Re: Little Boy Reflection (Easter '90)

Post by Mike (NJJ) »

The VCR spins to a stop
shuttering in static to focus on a
A child that's walking away, moving
across the far side carrying an Easter egg basket
a cross in the stars signs, shining
on his Sunday best, bugle boy shorts with
A hand me down shirt and even though
his best was a little less than the rest
he's still making it work.
A pimp even then huh? lol

Good imagery in this one, Hope. In what I quoted above I can see the scene down to the timer from the video camera. And I can see your little Jackie Chan* looking ass with the Easter egg basket.

*Inside joke from an old AOL conversation, I'm not being insensitive.
And a voice similar to mine
But smaller and less stained with
Age, and the impurity that came with it
A happier voice, more inclined to enjoy
a day without falling into itself
sings through the images on the screen

“Good times, we had good times, during those bad times.”
Dope, in the story I'm writing right now I also show how oblivious children can be to adult issues. A child can easily have good times during bad times and even the presence of a child can give adults the same feeling.
But we’re still together,
and the reflection on a blank television
reminds me of a young boy,
making it through a grown man’s loss
letting me know, I could still learn a lot.

I know.
I like that ending a lot. It's perfect, dare I say. The heart of the poem is wrapped up neatly here. You've got style for days, the concept for this poem is just as brilliant as it's execution. I'm going to send you a PM in a sec, check it out when you get a chance.

Brother Seatown...You grace us with your presence. Been a while since I seen you lurking around in here homie...Thanks for the look.

Mike, I just PM'd you back...Thanks for the in depth feedback on this one.

Edit: And no need to explain...I know you're a insensitive bastard who hates us zipper heads.

It's All In The Moment

Post by habit »

She raises her hand water trickles down gracefully,
reflecting her poise and demeanor

Fighting with so much emotion a star line bursts
eyes and winds to her own: half closed

"Silly trees that sway in the Distance...." always staring,
just staring off into future and skyline....

Sometimes she twists with a scarf, never losing her allure,
tip toeing grass lay like the crescent moon.

she's Wise and not medium yet never extreme, and
the tone of her flesh lip kisses my dreams -

Savior of sun, she exposes her breasts
and leaning back moanless blueberry caress

es her. How could it be so perfectly
lucid and even when we're each others breath?

I felt like I was reading a chapter in the Song of Solomon.

I really enjoyed the artsy poetry.

Thanks, and good to see you back around up here.

Later.

A poll for a poem? That's a new one.

I voted no by the way.

The poll is something else. Good to see you still posting, habit.

I usually enjoy your imagery but it doesn't stick with me in this one.

Ex. The wording is awkward here to me so I never get a chance to see what you intend (like usual).

ill be around here a lot more by the way looking at your guys' stuff again (i like to read and yall actually have something to say in poetry and responses as opposed to the OKP board where shit is out of control exclusive and buddy-buddy like a motherfucker)....basically, i miss the poetry cause i dont it get enough in life right now.

Can we already submit a track we've done? Or we are rhyming over said producers beats and THEN submitting?

I can send a few joints over and if they're worthy, thats fine.

If not, cool also.

nowell, you took the torch seatown handed to you and you ran with it.

now all you have to do is write a commemorative piece about why i'm the reason why people came to see this tourney and you've done all you could.

j/k

and i personally voted for cash rulz vs. gregg popabitch and not cause i was in it.

i felt that cash was a defenite favorite in this tournament and not many knew what i could do. cash came dope and i came with my brand of hip hop. and the underdog won.

however, i could be a bit biased.

hopeless vs. nowell's soul is a close second and probably will win.

and while we're here, can someone tell me what they thought the point of my last story was?

i'm curious to see if i was effective at all.

3 of my 4 pieces were stories. by the last round, i was all storied out.

I don't know if I was a favorite. This is poetry. I don't think I'm known for my poetry. I thought we were on even keel. However, I ended up voting for the Hopeless vs Nowell Soul round cause Nowell's piece just was incredible.

i think you were a favorite because people around here have seen your work b/c i'm pretty sure you've posted something here in the past. none of these people have seen my work unless they have posted at Keystyles, urbanprowlers, or HHI.

I chose me and Nowell...Not because I was in it really, but more so because I felt that Nowell was the favorite to take this.

And also, I was really looking forward to going up against him since I knew from what alot of other members said, that they were anticipating the match up.

Gre and Cash was a favorite too.

I had alot of fun.

liar, you picked it because you were in it.

EDIT: you already took away my dreams of winning the tournament, at least let me win this.

Pop...I swear to god I was gonna vote for yall, but I had no clue anyone else had voted on ours. I couldn't see the results until I voted!

But seriously, you rule. Got skills. You and Cash will take this easy. It's just that no one is voting.
