X-Men 3
I caught the midnight viewing of this tonight. I thought it was pretty good, but it had a lot of stupid parts and it felt kind of empty when it was all over. The third act was pretty underwhelming given all the build up as well. Lots of seemingly random plot choices happen throughout, but I don't wanna ruin anything.
Definitely worse than X2, might be worse than the first too, but I forget because I haven't seen that one in a long time. But it is still a really entertaining movie with lots of cool action segments.
One question: I know nothing about the Xmen comics, so does Juggernaut actually say "Don't you know who I am? I'm the Juggernaut, Bitch" in them, or was it just made up for that G.I. Joe-esque Xmen cartoon dub that was circulating the internet for a while? If it is the latter then the makers of this movie need to burn in a fire.
Also, if you didn't know, there is a little easter egg after the credits so stick around.
P.S. Needle guy is the worst mutant ever

In a couple of reviews, I've read that its light on character development and high on action and special effects, which are supposedly very well done. So if you go into it expecting a b-level action movie with awesome visuals, you'll be entertained. For those of you who've seen it, is that accurate?

if you don't know the history of the x-men and the mutant universe then a lot of the shit that happens in the flick will go right over your head.
the special effects were aight to me, nothing groundbreaking but entertaining nonetheless.
with that said, i thought it was a dope flick and the best of the trio of x-men movies.
That's about right, although I found the CG to be a little poor in some areas but overall expect what you've read.Psychosis wrote:In a couple of reviews, I've read that its light on character development and high on action and special effects, which are supposedly very well done. I'd like to go more in depth but I don't really want to spoil it this early. Although, the one major highlight of the movie for me was Kelsey Grammer as Beast and whomever the guy was that played Multiple Man.
It was the worst of the three by far.

America is very, very good at making movies that can be described exactly like this.ChristPuncher wrote:but it had a lot of stupid parts and it felt kind of empty when it was all over.

I figure since CHUD's all about X-Men this week, I should throw some more speculation on the fire from producer Lauren Shuler Donner (as told to us when we visited the set of Paul Feig's Unaccompanied Minors, which she's also producing). Here's what she had to say about the future of the franchise:
Q: There's been speculation as to whether there will be "X-Men" spin-offs or if there will be another film called "X-Men."
Donner: I hope so. We were just talking about that. Our original goal was to have [a franchise] like "Star Wars." "X-Men 7,8,9 and 10" because there are certainly enough comics out there

So I caught a midnight showing of this last night and I just want to say this is one of the most dissapointing movies I HAVE EVER SEEN! The story line is very bad, they totally could have gone a different way with this, this whole "cure" thing was very unnecessary. Another thing is the characters, I mean when you add new characters dont just leave them lying around just because you have to finish the movie, I know that new characters in this series really dont get much screen time as it is but at least you feel like they got their worth (most of the time). By the end of the movie you forget who was in the movie and what happened to them. the CGI is good but not great, storm finally kicks some ass, but wolverine seems vulnerable compared to X2 when he was a badass. I'm a fan of X-men but I feel this movie is the biggest COP OUT, just to end the trilogy. After walking out (even staying for the surprise at the end of the credits) I dont want them to make another X-Men movie. I dont mind a spinoof with wolverine, actually that would be great, but this series shouldnt have left on the note that it did. I say all this without trying to give away any spoilers. fuck I was looking forward to this movie, what a letdown.

hopefully my bashing of this movie will make people go into the movie with low expectations and then come out of it liking it somewhat, but Im sorry this was supposed to be my fav movie of the summer.

Once the trailers started coming out, there was just something off about it that reduced my interest so much so that over time I barely even want to see it period. All my friends are still asking when we're gonna see it and seem genuinely interested, but I could care less.
Reading these reviews makes me even more uninterested. What a shitty summer for flicks. I'm now even doubting Superman will be very good. I honestly think Miami Vice will be the most entertaining movie of them all. Here's hoping for next Summer.

General Interests: Fine herbage! Keepin it real, Jui Ryi Ki Kung-Fu (Blue belt with shuriken certification). Banging the skins with my smokin band 'TwaughtHammer'. European motocross (plan to attend Wheelie School in Vegas this summer). MILF's, MILF's, MILF's, MILF's!

Well, Bryan Singer who directed the first 2 X-Men is directing Superman... that's a good thing...Just sucks that he had to leave X-Men to do it.ChristPuncher wrote:^ Do you have reasons for thinking that aside from the trailer? I mean does the director/writing staff etc. have a good track record?
I'm asking because I thought the trailers sucked. I hate Superman though so I guess I am biased. The only reason I kind of want to see it is because of Kevin Spacey.
I will see Superman but don't have any real defiend expectatiosn about it...i hope it's good.

I HATE Ratner that fat fucking Jew. He ruins every god damn movie.
Actually Ratner was tied to Superman Returns but got out of it due to creative differences. Eventually Singer jumped on board and somehow Ratner got tied to X3. So either Singer could have stayed and probably made the best superhero trilogy ever or get 250 mill to make Superman returns and do the same here as he did in X1 and 2 and I guess eventually finish with another Superman trilogy.

that something is called Brett Ratner. As soon as I saw that he was directing I knew this thing would be shit stains.... it's too bad considering how wonderful number 2 was....
I found out from a VERY RELIABLE source that "Wolverine" is already in progress...
