Cy Young

Post by Peeping Tom »

it seems everybody thinks Clemens is a lock to win the NL Cy Young but have you been paying attention to St Louis' Carpenter?

He could realistically finish the season with 22-25 wins, lead the league in strikeouts and have an ERA 2nd to only clemens

Clemens is having one of most dominant seasons in 30 plus years. But the dumb ass writers gave Barry Zito the Cy Young over Pedro because he had more wins too.

i think sports writers get tired of giving players certain awards. pedro could've won cy young every year for 5 years.

shaq only has one MVP.

those awards are really politics.

Clemens would have 22-25wins playing on the Cardinals this year

but Carpenter is having a good enough season that Clemens needs to play well down the stretch

and Omni aren't you the one that said Dtrain was the CyYoung winner at the allstar break even though Clemens had better stats across the board except for wins???

Aren't I the guy who grew up in the 80s with Roger Clemens as my hero, and saw him coast for three years as a fat ass. Then say he wasn't leaving Boston unless he could go closer to his family in Texas. Then signed with Toronto. Then went to the Yankees, and won a WS. Then won 3 (maybe 4) more Cy Youngs?

Carpenter

More strikeouts
Better strikeout to walk ratio
4 Complete Game Shutouts
More Innings pitched
Equal Whip

Clemens

Lower era

This isn't that close. Carpenter.

Once again, clemens goes 8, gives up Zero runs and gets a ND.

I guess it's kinda fitting, since Johnson should've won it last year but his team couldn't win, now Clemens gets the same shit.

Tonights game is proof Clemens should be CY Young. If he keeps this up I'd say throw him the MVP honors too.

ha, yeah you're not biased.

a pitcher's goal is not to allow runs so his team has a chance to win.

who does that the best?
