I was just fuckin' around, Nowell. I don't want to be nominated for something that took me ten minutes to write (no nicotine). You guys actually put forth serious effort, so for me to be nominated should feel sort of like a kick in the groin for you guys.Nowell's Soul wrote:This isn't piece of the week or anything, this is as random as "favorite poster", so Hobo's and Poppabitch's pieces could be in the next one.

These Things, Those Stars
I'd thought I'd change it up a little, any feedback would be great...
These Things, Those Stars
These things. These things. I need to understand these things. Why I'd like desperately to close my eyes and be surprised by the loveliness that my lack of passion brings.
Those stars. Those stars. I stare at the sky and wonder why those stars always seem so far. It's an outstretched arm that's not within reach, I smile at the strangers who pass but I never seem to meet.
I'm fine. I'm fine. People never seem to believe the man who has to scream and say that he's alright. I bet that feeling's nice. I'll always be just alright. Even when the world is saved and sung, well my job has just begun, and I'll always be alright.
Some walks. Some walks. Some steps you take with strangers make my mind mistake the present as something soft. But it's not. See, it might bend but don't pretend that you're on when you are off.
My mind. My mind. Sometimes it feels more like a broken spine. But atleast it's mine. It changes like a seashore's tide and never believes the things it sees and most of all, it leaves everything behind.
Peace.

post your favorite poem.
The Fisherman
ALTHOUGH I can see him still,
The freckled man who goes
To a grey place on a hill
In grey Connemara clothes
At dawn to cast his flies,
It
ALTHOUGH I can see him still,
The freckled man who goes
To a grey place on a hill
In grey Connemara clothes
At dawn to cast his flies,
It

From the land of the UNBANNED

Dreams remix featuring Gregg Popabitch
[The Game]
I woke up out that coma two thousand and one
'Bout the same time Dre dropped "2001"
Three years later the album is done
Aftermath presents "Nigga Witta Attitude, Volume One"
Rap critics politickin, wanna know the outcome
"Ready to Die" "Reasonable Doubt" and "Doggystyle" in one
I feel like 'Pac after the Snoop Dogg trial was done
Dre behind that G series and "All Eyez on Me"
I watched the death of a dynasty, so I told Vibe Magazine
Workin with Dr. Dre was a {dream}
I had visions of makin a classic, then my world turned black
like I was starin out of Stevie Wonders glasses
It's kinda hard to imagine, like Kanye West
comin back from his fatal accident to beatmakin and rappin
But, we the future, Whitney Houston told me that
And it's gon' take more than a bullet in the heart to hold me back
[Chorus: The Game]
Russian and this 40 ounce, lettin the ink from my pen bleed
Cause Martin Luther King had a {dream}
Aaliyah had a {dream} Left Eye had a {dream}
So I reached out to Kanye and {I brought you all my dreams}
[Gregg Popa]
sometimes cats used to ask "whatchya dreamin dude?"
that one day i'd make a track with a hook like kareem abdul's
shit, i'd even settle for paula's, never was a shot caller
cause of the way i was brought up, didn't wanna get caught up
first time i heard midnight marauders, i was blown away
then Fight the Power came out and showed the way
to most of my bros' dismay,
askin "don't you know this'll happen?
the average rap fan's white, they don't wanna see a sandnigga rappin"
i heard the finger snapping, woke me up from my dream
but i still write the revolution, to wake up the slums and the fiends
who live out nightmares, shooting up cause they're type scared
hoping a white man in a suit seems like he might care
That's just a dream, michael stipe told me so
so i gotta bring the truth to the masses with the unholy flow
my rapid eye movement's not from dreams and sleepin
they have to be shifty to see if homeland is creepin
[Chorus: The Game]
Russian and this 40 ounce, lettin the ink from my pen bleed

LOL because i did this same shit only i re-did the game's first verse like crazy
i walked up to get my diploma, two thousand and none
out to make mine, my mom said "i'm proud of my son"
four years later i doubt i ain't dumb
aftermath of a nobody wilding always fouling up
but i stopped cuz i was just fuckin around
just so i don't hijack thread, lemme read your shit thorough...
could've been overly introspective and brown, but instead your verse came off hot as fuck...i'm feelin the smooth/multis/flow
first time i heard midnight marauders, i was blown away
then Fight the Power came out and showed the way
to most of my bros' dismay,
askin "don't you know this'll happen?
the average rap fan's white, they don't wanna see a sandnigga rappin"
i'm a sucka for reminiscing about golden times both as a fan and in the music...and the reference to brown is (heart)felt
