The question is, would you buy any of these titles on UMD if you already have them on DVD? The cost for these is notably higher considering there are no extra features attached.
Are there better ways to upload videos to this beastly handheld? Of those of you who are rockin' a PSP nowadays, do you even use the video playback feature?

i own kill bill on UMD but only because this local spot mislabeled it as the DVD and was selling it for $8. for $22 i never would've even thought about copping it. it has all the special features that the DVD has, scene selection etc. and the quality is incredible, it's like having a widescreen plasma TV in your hands. as for purchasing future titles, that depends on the price and if there's any incentive to cop something that i already own on DVD.Smooth Lou wrote:The question is, would you buy any of these titles on UMD if you already have them on DVD? a better way would be to pick up a 1 gig memory stick ($100- $150) and rip the DVD's yourself. kind of a hassle too. for now i'll just stick to games, i didn't really get a PSP for its MP3 or video playback features but they're a nice extra in case i ever do decide to use them.Smooth Lou wrote:Are there better ways to upload videos to this beastly handheld? What program will rip a DVD to a small enough format to fit on your memory stick? AND WHY ARE 1Gig MEMORY STICKS SO GODDAMN EXPENSIVE?!?!?!agent b wrote:a better way would be to pick up a 1 gig memory stick ($100- $150) and rip the DVD's yourself. kind of a hassle too. for now i'll just stick to games, i didn't really get a PSP for its MP3 or video playback features but they're a nice extra in case i ever do decide to use them.Smooth Lou wrote:Are there better ways to upload videos to this beastly handheld? Pretty much any normal full length movie can be ripped and reencoded to be the size of a 700MB CD and still look pretty damn good if the right settings are used. Almost all the XviD or DivX movies you see on the internet are approximately 700MB.Smooth Lou wrote:What program will rip a DVD to a small enough format to fit on your memory stick?

also you'll need a program called PSPvideo9 to convert them into to the proper format for your PSPNoah wrote:Pretty much any normal full length movie can be ripped and reencoded to be the size of a 700MB CD and still look pretty damn good if the right settings are used. I can't imagine feening for a movie so bad that I couldn't wait till I got to a DVD player. Watching music vids/tv shows on a PSP sounds a lot better than devouring your battery life and holding a PSP for 2 hours.
That being said if I found em used I'd probably cop a few umd movies that I really like cause I'm a consumer whore.

From the land of the UNBANNED
These have to be the biggest fuck job ever done to video gamers... seriously are you going to buy a movie you already have on DVD and pay more just to watch it on the subway ? or anywhere else for that matter? If you have time to sit and watch movies on a handheld device you better be on a plane or something...
it'd either hurt my neck... or make my arms tired.Trademark wrote:These have to be the biggest fuck job ever done to video gamers... seriously are you going to buy a movie you already have on DVD and pay more just to watch it on the subway ? or anywhere else for that matter?
