Road Trip Gone Wrong

Post by theaggravatedjew »

Hit the liquor store and copped a couple of bottles
Got our gear packed then hit the road full throttle
Hooked up with the other cars and formed a train
Bust my ass all year, its time to do the party thang
On the Drive down I got to know some new folks
Bumped music talked sports and told some jokes
It was just like cube said, todays a good Day

Word On The Street

Post by Kid B »

Catch my verb,
and hold it tight
Because my legs may walk away from this place
I need a reason to stay in one space
Here,
take this noun
Listen to its sound
As I throw it around . . . the room
Watch these trite adjectives go and attach its limbs to the nouns
Making them fall down to the ground
. . . I can't leave now . . .
Because the fuckin adverbs want to herb the adjectives
They're on some now you see me, now you don't
Getting official with an open or closed quote . . .
So this is what I wrote:
I need all you words to stop catching friction and match the diction
And pattern of my speech
Saturn is within my reach
And I spin its rings into parentheses
Through the currents of earthly seas
My words go from local to global
From Border's to Barnes & Noble
When it crossed the Pacific
I knew it would form a little haiku or two
Convention and order
Then the words ascended on the water
Catch my verb and hold it tight because my legs may walk away from this place
I write in blue ink that turns red when the book opens
Transcends into sunlight when the night gets broken
These words are heard from meadows to ghetto curbs
From Italian vistas through rebel Sandinistas
And the illest creature's speeches reach us
Some teach us, some preach to us
Words aren't as strong as those's actions
But they work well in closed captions
The subtext of life on the subject of strife
More powerful than a gun or a knife
I want you to catch this verb just one time
With these words you and I combine . . .

yeah, it's been delayed with the recent HLB and forum shut downs.

I think when everything settles is when we should do round 4. if anybody disagrees with this holler.

I buss enough raps
to make ya skull crack,
in one lap, I passed ya track record unmatched,
smashed ya set in a half second and dashed,
with weapons I stash,
that rip through flesh and dissect ya mollecular mass,
wan' dance wit the devil? hell, step to the task,
coreograph like Aztecs checkin the warpath
and all that, dawg go call ya comrades
what's the forecast?
I rain on fags, but they just might get excited and like it,
so I scream "MORE FIYAH" and bun di climate.

swish.

I'm energetic with alphabet calisthetics,
unregrettably competetive with rhetoric,
set it off with my penmanship
then dead it quick like confederate presidents
getting elected only because of their relatives,
settin it off, Behemoth takin a loss,
'cause his greed is immediate, the post count kept feedin it,
fuck it, I'm old school like executive moguls,
who control you with cellular mobiles,
I'm global, you don't want tofu
my flows roast ho's like the ozone do,
four-fours'll fold you,
like origami
prolly body you in a tsunami counterclockwise
and baptize ya propety
bitches mocking me can't match the discography
flow choppy, too cocky,
checking the god in me - with sloppy typography,
so niggaz broadcasting bitch tendencies like Ellen
better step up with the pen or end up like the French in Benin

Dance of fog and Light

Post by brnfrzebreakone9 »

fog echoes the shadows which infest the day tomorrrow
and light reflects the sunshine, as to only bring us sorrow

I had a spot where I reflected, on the shore beside the ocean
that left me with a vivid picture, and yet a subtle notion.
the fog hovers memories, over the streets that are crowded
but it's not the air above the water, it's your mind that is clouded
Writers block, as the spider's mock, the even smaller creatures
my molding is done, of the golden sun, and all it's beautiful features

I want to dance with the fog, I want to walk with the light
even when the cloud's are all black, and the sun's never bright
because the fog echoes the shadows which infest the day tomorrow
and light reflects the sunshine, as to only bring us sorrow
I'm just living this day, and this life i only borrow
because the fog echoes the sunshine, as to only bring us sorrow

I walk to the other side, but it never changes my reflection
They call it self-image, but I call it careful inspection.
Sunrise sunset, what's in between is irrelevant
I've made my own heaven out of this hell that I've bent
Lonesome Lectures Leading my pencil on the Loose Leaf
I've heard my share of voices, but i never know who speaks
because sunshine even tricks the magician, to believe everything is allright
and now I've never climbed a mountain, but i feel I've scaled tall heights

because fog is just the barrier, echoing the shadows of tomorrow
and light reflects the sunshine, as to only bring us sorrow
Im stepping on fog's toes, and running past the light
even when the cloud's are all black, and the sun's never bright.

Umm umm.. what is your backsplash comprised of?
Which quarry is the granite from?
Can you trace its lineage?
And the organically occurring fault line jitters
That some customers see as eye catching
Or too prominent
But it

reason is yellow wrote:hehe, song title sounds like you preempted the game and "higher"

the hook is half dope as fuck, half over-written...the best advice i ever got was by tony blackman, random female mc and activist who told me, "you have too many syllables and words in some of your lines, just cut out some of the words" - that would apply to the ends of the rhyme schemes in the hooks...

i was feelin the rhymes when they weren't "over-written" and were just smoother and simpler yet still witty. memorable lines: the lecter one, delusions of grandeur - student of an amateur, the hole sequence from "crescendos" on...

i also feel like your more metaphorical sequences could be more witty and visceral and less abstract...for example, i fully understand the carousel to rollercoaster symbolism, but maybe you could incorporate those images/words in punchlines or wordplay as opposed to just leaving the metaphor hanging as a simple metaphor, letting it linger as you move on to new symbolism

hope the criticism wasn't too convoluted. it's obvious you have a lot of talent, but you might be trying too hard in some spots. or let's put it this way, a song that takes 10 listens as opposed to 5 just to be understood, is not necessarily better...

holla
(ha ha, i wrote this song in 2002... Game is biting meee :P)

word the fuck up, son. i take this to heart, and i seriously appreciate this constructive insight...

i want my songs to have more immediate impact these days.

it isn't 1996 anymore when Latyrx would drop an album that has 2 rappers rapping on eachother, and people would listen 50 times, not get it all, and still appreciate it.

motherfuckers need to get smacked upside their heads to pay attention to the lyrics anymore.

i hate it but love it
You're in Heaven right now, God.
Create the universe you dream of.
