this thread (and group) deserves a bump slash period of reflection/mourning
there's more gems in other threads (the early bay area & grime threads are some of the best shit posted on :phila: imo) but this is the only one i found on search

who else thinks jacka was the best rapper out for a few years in the mid-00s (IDAL? Rey? CQ? odium?)

devilz rejectz 1 & 2, the jack artist + mob trial 1 are all flawless classic albums IMO.

what's your favorite & what happened ?

Jacka was definitely one of the best rappers between 2005 and 2008. He just ran out of steam, which every rapper does eventually, but had a pretty fantastic run, pioneered a whole sub-genre of rap, and still has the odd good song in him like Uh Huh. It'd be churlish to ask any more of him at this point.

Hus is finally dropping an album within the next 12 months apparently.

Fave Mob Figaz joints:

1. The Jacka - Murder Somebody
2. Husalah - Fighting The Feds
3. The Jacka w/ Husalah - Blind World
4. C-Bo w/ Mob Figaz & 151 - Ride Til We Die
5. Husalah - Live Life Illegal
6. AP.9 - Snitches Worst Nightmare
7. The Jacka & Husalah - Pigeon On T-Shirt
8. Husalah - Frozen Heart
9. AP.9 w/ The Jacka - Reflections
10. The Jacka - Heavy Rain
11. Jacka & Ampichino w/ T-Nitty & Husalah - Hustle In The Rain
12. Husalah - Sleep With Da Fishes (Boom Clack)
13. The Jacka - Barney (More Crime)
14. Husalah & The Jacka - N*ggas Out There Mine
15. The Jacka w/ Too $hort & Husalah - Die Young
16. Mob Figaz - Tailor Made
17. Husalah - Da Mob
18. C-Bo w/ Mob Figaz - Real N*ggas
19. AP.9 - Federal
20. Husalah w/ Kool G. Rap - Hus G. Rap

I can't find that old Husalah thread for shit but here's an analog:

There used to be a Rydah J. Kylde, "What's Really Thizzin?" post, as well.

Figz were probably my favorite supergroup, bar none.

Fed X's "Awful Dodger" is still my favorite mafioso guitar song ever.

Might post up some favs later but yeah Jacka was incredible, for a few years he was my favourite dude rapping. My faith that Hus still has it in him is diminishing with every year of freedom, its like hes afraid to rap/release shit idgi. Ive heard hes got albums and albums worth at this point.

i have basically zero faith in a husalah album. the first song he released out of jail was as good as his post-prison music got.
aside from a few obvious exceptions (death to my enemies notably) it sounds like all of his guest appearances in the past few years have been freestyles made high on molly when he decided he could use some extra money for soccer jerseys

The new Grand Puba bone idle clotheshorse.

Plz, someone out there who keeps up to date with Paul Wall, tell me the infamous studio clip slumper has been out there on a tape hiding.

Fuck that, though, You Neva Know and Da Mob are great, as are his contributions Handsome, Hustle In The Rain and Loyal To The Mob.

And that self-titled mixtape from 2009 with all the exclusive/unreleased joints on it had a bunch of fantastic shit on there. Lord You Know and Mob Shit are both classic Hus'.
