12 Block [94-95 Hard 2 Obtain] and Nick Wiz Cellar Sel. 4

Post by Verge »

hey guys, got another gem on the Heavy Jewelz imprint and it's exactly what's expected, a banger. and stretch and bob and demo related.
What exactly happened to Hard 2 Obtain? Well, i can't tell you what i don't know but i can tell you this much. A Math (12 Block) was originally supposed to be one of the main emcees in H2O, along with Taste The Terror (12 Block, Hard 2 Obtain), but as the recording of Ism & Blues was about to commence, A Math decided that finishing his education down south was the right move at the time.

Fast forward a little while later to September 1994 and A Math makes his way to the studio with Taste and Dj Nastee who also worked closely with H2O. These tracks were all recorded from Sept 94 to Feb 95. "If It's On Like That (C'mon)" was played on Stretch And Bobbito and is another elusive sought after demo, as was "Movin Island Style Thorough".

While you're at it, if you've yet to cop Terror Green there's less than 50, and less than 80 Adagios.
Gee Rock now sold out.

The sticker artwork is done by Spek The Architek. Peep some of his other work here:
http://groundbreakin.blogspot.gr
"The drawing is hand-made in black & white as an attempt to express the raw and colorless sound of the demo itself. The group’s name, as well as the title, includes references to the region where the 2 MC’s used to live in (12 / Island) and that's why the Long Island map is used here as a platform, to add emphasis to the place itself. Those buildings shaping a "12" are placed right over Roosevelt and Lakeview, the said territory. Lyrics and music are quite dark but kind of optimistic at the same time, like moving forward in a dull and declining place. Thus long sharp lines are being used to express movement (a line contains the concept of speed), strong shading and clouds / mist to create a grim and hazy feeling but no sea water to keep a certain level of dryness (dry like the music). The absence of water also implies a post-apocalyptic era combined with strict geometry, influenced by some of the lyrics which mention God, Revelation and Mathematics as the language of the universe."

How dope is that, huh, damn....
Is that one of those artists which you expect to put out more volumes and hopefully also CD at the end ?
Damn, it is hard to be a cd buyer trying to get that lost 90s shit as well these days - (almost) no one seem to care enough anymore, ha-haaaa (thanks to those who still care - we know who you are!)

 this shit bangs.

I dont think a cd would happen with this or terror green. This is all there is and a feature track that might be on a future release.

Like Verge mentioned, you can combine shipping with this joint with my new release on GRR (Nick Wiz Cellar Selections 4, available at: grrvinyl.bigcartel.com) Just select the Combined Shipping option when you purchase Nick Wiz and we'll take care of the rest.

If for some reason you slept on 12 Block, it's not too late to get in on the combined shipping action. Though I hear the colour 12 Block wax is very close to selling out now!

Shit, I wished I wouldn't spent so much money on hookers and blow this weekend (I kid), this looks dope as hell.

What's up P, you involved in this somehow? And forgive my lack of internet presence of late, but what's GRR?

^ Glavet, how's things? GRR is the label I've been running for a few years, which the past few Nick Wiz vinyl releases have come out on.

first small shipment going out Tuesday afternoon.

The 12 Block was mastered for vinyl and also mastered for digital. It knocks. If you wanna support but don't buy records, it's only $5 for highest quality WAVs or mp3s or whatever:

Dope shit Verge...too bad Taste is more the coach while A-Math is the boxer...good music regardless
Taste is also rhyming on that joint with the Biggie sample and Nick Wiz track.

Better than the H2O album....sound quality is A1 Yola too...
