Re: Thoughts on the following movies? PF classics edition.
Sin City - could care less
Drive - thought it looked amazing, would probably never watch the story of an autistic stunt man again
City of God - havent seen in a good 5 years but love, love, love this movie.
Black Swan - Enjoyed it at the time, have only watched the selflove/lesbian scene since.
Grindhouse (Death Proof/Planet Terror) - love this movie. Liked Death Proof much more at the time of the release, but Planet Terror has grown to become my favorite part.
Batman Begins - really enjoyed but dont need to ever see it again.

still love the ones i loved when they came out and hate the one i hated when it came out (death proof)
really want to revisit city of god, it's been ages. doubt it aged poorly though
black swan is something i only need to see like once every 10years but i feel like i will enjoy it in 2021 too
i just bought the batman 3piece for pennies, really looking forward to it even though i remember them all well. i have a feeling that it works better as a continuous trilogy than as 3 separate movies ala LOTR

Sin City: Fun and watchable.
Drive: Awesome
City of God: Next level awesome
Black Swan: Didn't really care.
Grindhouse (Death Proof/Planet Terror): Planet terror is amazing. death proof is kinda whatever but had it's moments.
Batman Begins: Super hero movies are for fagz.
Drive: Awesome
City of God: Next level awesome
Black Swan: Didn't really care.

Sin City- Was not a fan when this came out so doubt I would enjoy it now. Rodriguez kind of well strike that he out and out sucks as a director.
Drive- Have nto had a chance to watch this yet will likely watch it again in a couple weeks.
City of God- Still awesome and one of the best movies of the 00s
Black Swan- Not really a fan of the movie
Grindhouse (Death Proof/Planet Terror)- Never saw Planet Terror and since its Rodriguez no need to see it to know it sucks. Death Proof is by far the worst QT movie its amazing to think he directed it.
Batman Begins- I now hate this movie because Batman saved kind douche bag

Sin City - Worst of all the neo-noir comic book adaptations
Drive - Only Speed Racer stands next to it in modern itinerations of drive fast movies.
City of God - Meh
Black Swan - Slight dissapointment after the Wrestler but a good flick
Grindhouse (Death Proof/Planet Terror) - Hahah at Planet Terror(which was actually decent until the surviving group gets taken by Willis and Co.), Death Proof is one of QT's better films.
Batman Begins - Somewhere between Tim Burton's original Batman and Dark Knight Rises in the Batman film cannon

Re: Thoughts on the following movies? PF classics edition.
Sin City - Wasn't a big movie watcher at the time and had no knowledge going in, but saw it when it came out with some friends and was blown away by the visuals. a top movie theater experience of my life
Drive - Really enjoyed it, loved the style & music etc. some kinda lame scenes, but good really outweighs the bad. lack of dialog & allegations of autism didn't bother me while viewing.
City of God - Loved at the time, but I haven't seen it in forever and it's now one of those that gets overly mentioned as 'underrated'. It's the go-to for the type of person who answers "favorite movie, fight club, favorite 'old' movie, raging bull, favorite 'foreign' movie city of god".
Black Swan - only movie I'd personally rank behind this of this threads grouping would be Planet Terror. I don't see myself rewatching this for a long time. but I liked it.
Grindhouse (Death Proof/Planet Terror) - Liked Death Proof much more, but again like with most of this list I haven't seen it in a while.
Batman Begins - LOVED it at the time, and was rabidly anticipating all of TDK updates online for the years between parts 1 & 2 (like those photos of the semi flipping in downtown chicago). I'd knock it down a half star or so after rewatching it recently. I actually felt it was dated when I saw it this past year.

Sin City - A great movie in every respect. I still love it.
Drive - Good shit, but overrated on the whole.
City of God - Quality film that still holds up very well imo.
Black Swan - I never thought too much about this movie. Plot holes galore as I remember, but beautifully shot.
Grindhouse (Death Proof/Planet Terror) - This was some of the most fun I'd had in the theater in a long time. Planet Terror was the clear winner.
Batman Begins - A super solid start to the new Batman franchise.

City of god was meh .

Bro, he lives the thug life.
I'd imagine you wouldn't be too fond of a documentary about Brazilian instrumental hip-hop producers/bloggers.
Sin City - Thought it was okay at the theaters, just got the blu-ray to see if it's better on the 2nd viewing.
Drive - Cool atmospheric flick, little to no replay value.
City of God - Great movie, no desire to ever see it again.
Black Swan - Never saw this shit.
Grindhouse (Death Proof/Planet Terror) - Didn't see this motherfucker either.
Batman Begins - My favorite Batman movie, (no one agrees, I know) I like the origin story, fuck Joff Dogg though.

Sin City-- don't care, never cared, guess it was cool to watch the once
Drive-- was recently selling someone on this who hadn't seen it, after bigging up several facets of the movie that were up my alley i sold it with mentioning michelle williams was the girl in it. turned it on later and quickly found out michelle williams is not the girl in it. peace, mulligan
City of God-- been a long time, and just watched it once, but yeah city of good
Black Swan-- actually never finished this. contorted foot action was freaking me out
Grindhouse (Death Proof/Planet Terror)-- cool to watch the once. MEWinstead was like missy elliot fly in death proof, sayid was in planet terror. pt def the better of the two
Batman Begins-- one of the few comic bookers i could admit to watching more than once. goodgood

Re: Thoughts on the following movies? PF classics edition.
Sin City - Fun, over the top movie. Like it a lot.
Drive - Gosling trying to be Ryan 'O Neal (see 'The Driver').
City of God - Liked it, but don't ever need to see it again.
Black Swan - Made me realise how much Aronofsky is trying to be Cronenberg. Still enjoyable.
Grindhouse (Death Proof/Planet Terror) - Haven't seen Planet Terror in ages, but something tells me, I like it more than Death Proof (which I also enjoy). Will rewatch soon.
Batman Begins - First installment of Nolans bloated, pompous Batman trilogy. Nolan is way overrated as a filmmaker, imo.

Actually, watching these in sequence illuminated the fact that Dark Knight Rises sticks out like a sore thumb. Still, each movie is good, all told.drizzle wrote:i just bought the batman 3piece for pennies, really looking forward to it even though i remember them all well. i have a feeling that it works better as a continuous trilogy than as 3 separate movies ala LOTR

Jackie Brown is the only classic movie QT has released, the rest range from good to decent to meh.
EDIT: Look what the god Tony Scott did with a QT script.

This seems like a good time to state that I can't stand any of Quentin Tarantino's movies.

Sin City - Some great design and cinematography in it. Other films that want to imitate it have a long fucking way to go.
Drive - Good movie with some hardcore action it. Worth a re-watch.
City of God - Aside from it being a good movie, it was good to see that it touched on the state of the youth in a place like Brazil. Sad as fuck to watch in some scenes but overall, well done.
Black Swan - Seeing Natalie Portman master bate then stop is both
and
reasons to watch this movie.
Grindhouse (Death Proof/Planet Terror) - Been meaning to watch this. Will do this tonight.
Batman Begins - I don't think there will ever be someone to ever play the Joker again as good as Ledger. He made the film and you forgot about Bale's halfway awkward deep voice he kept doing.

Sin City - great fun
Drive - good. i think i didn't like it as much as i wanted, but i was tired when i saw it
City of God - seriously i need to watch this again, only seen it once and really liked it, but its been almost 10 years. and i wanna see the spin-off tv-series city of men
Black Swan - visually amazing
Grindhouse (Death Proof/Planet Terror) - good movies. first time i saw death proof i didn't like it much and felt that planet terror was better, but these days second part of death proof > planet terror
Batman Begins - awesome

Apparently motherfuckers hate being entertained. That's what QT brings to the table. Stylized entertainment. Big payoffs. Getting great performances from people who you might not expect them from.
Hating all QT movies as a rule makes no sense to me but, hey, do you.
But thinking City of god was meh? Unforgivable.

Sin City - More terrible than when it was released. Terrible turns by Rourke, Owens, and too many others to recount. Garbage presentation.
Drive - Will continue to watch and approach climax with each viewing. The slickest, shiniest, most original, American film in the last twenty years.
City of God - Only watched once and was less than wowed. Has been on my Netflix queue since I started checking my nuts for health reasons.
Black Swan - The White Man's pantheon; an unintentionally sardonic chunk of schlock from the minds of one of today's most overrated working directors.
Grindhouse (Death Proof/Planet Terror) - Very enjoyable if you're stoned and ready to embrace your inner-movie lover. Although Planet Terror is difficult to endure because of the guy from Harsh Times.
