I just kept muckin around with the 'link to MP3' on that 91 Divshare, and ended up manually abbreviating it. It was actin like a half a fag though. The shortened URL is this: http://www.divshare.com/download/4222100-f20

Thats Dom Rubrecht, wasnt he the fella that hosted the Essential Elements blog ? I should give Facebook more of a chance

Nes, I just clocked your http://dirtywaters.blogspot.com/2011/01/radio.html post yesterday fella. I'd already compiled a Rap radio wants-list a while back, thought I'd add on with some shows you might be interested in. Obvs, the UK stuff was in its finest hour with Westwood, there were none greater for variety of music and special mixes/ demos/ sessions. The history isnt that deep in terms of archives, but it goes back further with a guy called Mike Allen, also on Capital, who also had equally interesting guests [LL interview being a highlight for me in 86].

I remember the WXLU Beastie Boys interview tape doin the rounds a while back but I'd never heard of We Came From Beyond, until I read the DJ TIM comment on your post, just as I'd never heard of Ron Nelson who did a great series of shows in Toronto, yet more under the radar Hip-Hop broadcasting.

Below is the wants list, ever increasing and worrying at the same time. The US gear youll no doubt be aware of but I hope the UK info helps.

Plenty of info on Mike Allen and Tim Westwood can be found here: http://www.mikeallencapitalradio.com

If anyone has any info on any of these shows, or any corrections, dont hesitate to fix up... If anyone has start and end dates of these shows, please add on for any of them, I'd love to know more about all and any of these shows. If there are any shows that pre-date the millenium, dont hesitate to add on.

word I just peeped the comment Craig, and this is a thorough list right here. Here's what I can add on as far as dates...

Martin Moore & DJ Mayhem [Club 89/New York Live] - WNYU - 1993?- May 1997
Halftime Show - WNYU - March 4, 1998 - present
Stretch & Bobbito - WKCR - October 18, 1990 - December 10, 1998.

as far as P-Fine shows, I know WNYU archives has a few of his shows from the mid-80's, i posted a few of the soundcloud links here -
http://dirtywaters.blogspot.com/2011/01 ... hives.html
(Verge helped me with rips of these since they didn't have downloads so maybe he'll drop them here..) I heard something about P-Fine handing out a data disk full of his shows to insider heads but I doubt that will make the rounds.

I would kill for some more WNYU shows (Halftime, P-Fine, Mayhem, Riz) and also the Wildman Steve shows.
I'm really hoping someone comes through with some of those at some point..

And that pretty much goes for any and all of those radio shows you mentioned. I wish there were more Steve Brocks out there. I recently tried tracking down this dude I knew in college who had boxes full of Stretch shows from 1994 but I came up empty. I mean so many people listened to this shows we need more people to be generous and share, if nothing else to preserve the history..

Thats kinda what im about Nes. Thanks for kickin off with the dates, thats really appreciated.

I think alotta folk, and I would include myself until a few years ago, are sitting on gems, gems that are gonna go to waste if we dont continue on with the documentation of em all. I think alotta folk dont realise that people like yourself, like Step One and myself here in London, and the shed-load of heads that have helped out with the Stretch & Bobb thread, we're all willing to do the dirty work, the transferring, the digitising. It aint nuthin.....Its just getting round to it. I dont mind chipping away at a tape a week, no sweat to me, and obviously the pay-off is top choice.

Its really not that difficult in the scheme of things, its just that alotta people arent aware of the techy side of things, and are put off by the whole concept of how to switch shit up from analog to digital. The preservation of these shows is important, because its a valid thing to do, and not just cos its feeding a habit. If the Mapping thread hadnt started, how many S&B shows would still be sitting gathering dust in boxes. Cos everyone got involved, we all got blessed and it got recognised by the people at the heart of it all

NOTE TO ALL:

If anyone of you dont have the ability to transfer old radio tapes, just ask in this thread, there are more than enough of us around that can transfer, and are willing to assist. Obvs it depends on whatever country you are from, but im sure Step and myself would be happy to take any number of the UK shows of peoples hands within UK/ Europe in order to progress and track the movement.

Aleph, IrishCraig & Dirty waters yall are all right.
we are like hip-hop preservers, we gotta to attain this stuff so we can keep it alive and dont let it go to waste.
so when we reach grandfather status we can play these for our kids and so forth! we have to get these shows to preserve them!

now i just wish i can attain some old episodes of Rap City & Yo! MTV Raps just as easy as these radio shows are coming along. if anyone can help me please holla at me!

but aleph, dirty waters and irish craig big ups and mad respect!
