i apologize if this has been talked about cuz i must have missed it. peace to dead poet for posting this in mp3x because i had no idea who these guys were before but three tracks in and i'm really loving what i hear so far.

kinda reminds me of below the heavens album minus the art fag rapping.

anyone care to tell me what else from them i'm missing?

Haven't heard any of this yet but I ordered the CD, purely because everything Apollo Brown produces is fantatsic.

I posted something about it in the new releases post, cause I was surprised no one was talking about it since Apollo Brown produced it. Apollo does what he does better than anyone, but you can tell with this compared to The Left, the backlash will come soon due to him basically using the same formula to make beats. I love it, but I know its coming soon. All I do know is this album BANGS in the car.

I'm sure no one paid attention cause I'm not a frequent poster.

And you arent missing anything else from them, there was a mixtape but it was basically all old Apollo Brown songs you have heard and snippeets of the songs on this album.

I've been considering buying that album for a minute. Mellow Music Group has been pretty dope as a label these past few years.

I downloaded the album to check out. It's the best thing I've heard in a while. I'll cop the CD next week when it's released here.

They sound like they're of a certain time period for sure, but not that dated IMO. As truconfidence said above, he does one thing particularly well, but I like that one thing.

I check out loads of new hip-hop albums, but most of them get booted straight into the recycle bin, or I like 2 or 3 tracks and that's it. I like this whole album though, so I'll cop it to support the artists.

Funny, I was just talking about buying this album on ughh. Apollo Brown is a beast. I made a thread last year about The Reset and Gas Mask albums and like 5 people replied. Those albums bang hard, dude is great at flipping those dusty soul samples. Kills most of the weak abstract soft shit that cats jock. Detroit really churns out dope beat makers (Bronze Nazareth, Black Milk, Apollo Brown, Dilla).

Lol. Yeah it's a shitty forum. Just a message board though bro, not a big deal haha. I find people there have better taste than the people here with less long winded posts. Plus more discussion about individual albums as opposed to umbrella topics on one single artist. I would never buy an album from there though, too expensive.

I still need to hear that Clouds instrumental album he did earlier this year. What did people think of that?

It's really dope.

I play Burn One's Ashtray and Lee Bannon's Bix Toy Box 2 a lot more though. But Apollo's is for sure a solid release.

if Apollo Brown had more than one section to his beats he'd be a force to be reckoned with
