Possible new contender, very solid on the first listen for me. Gotta give it a couple more rotations to know for sure.

Clearly not, if you rate that Cru album so highly.

It took me a year to get used to his voice, but there are some jams on there.

Aside from mbdtf, I haven't heard much from the hip hop realm that I've liked in the last year or so besides this: <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ej9-7QncFC4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I was pretty disappointed by Curren$y's full lengths. OF was alright for a minute but I can't really get into that shit.

This forum is full of nothing but redundant threads/topics, and littered with links to mediocre songs. Shit sucks.

I really fail to see how Covert Coup is 'amazing' let alone one of the better releases of '11. Shit's boring and not half the album either of the PT albums is.
Whether to Jason of Philaflava or John Podesta, I will speak my fucking perspective openly

Not exactly exhaustive, but my most listened to hip-hop offerings (off the top of my head) from the last couple of years probably are:

Roc Marciano - Marcberg
Kanye - MBDTF
Homeboy Sandman - The Good Sun
Pharoahe - WAR
The Roots - How I Got Over

Not much on that list right? I know, it concerns me too. And I give virtually everything a spin.
A lot of people mentioned EARL, and it's cool as a concept album and all, but there's just something about listening to a child do gross-out hip hop for 25 minutes (or however long that shit is) that I just can't stomach all that much. I much prefer Frank Oceans shit. Anyways, I guess I like grown man rap, probably because I'm 35 years old.
