Episode is called Ice if anyone wants to track it down and watch it.
The first four seasons of the X-Files are fucking awesome, and that "Ice" episode is a great one. It would crack my top 20 list of X-Files episodes, which is saying something. Have you seen "Darkness Falls" yet? That's probably my all-time favorite.

I only sporadically watched the show during its initial run, maybe 1/4 of the episodes maybe as a guesstimate. Looking at the wiki page for that episode I don't think I've seen it. I'll be getting to it very soon though.

I'm actually about 2/3 through season 2 now...so good. Really loved the Scully abduction episodes and the John Locke cameo and the one where Ari Gold's wife is a possible vampire were pretty cool too.

Trailer added. Don't think it'll remain online for long.

not really feeling the cliched plucky female scientist lead or the equally cliched gruff maverick scientist who fucks it up for everybody or the explicit visual references to the original or what looked like explicit nods to alien

lol at 'millions of people may die', especially when compared to the computer simulation sequence in the og

but i'll reserve judgement and i'm still curious to see it

I forgot that Amy Elizabeth Winestead was supposed to be in this.

hopefully it doesn't disappoint.

Definitely looks like they turned it into a run-of-the-mill horror movie with lots of jump scares and people panting.
Trailers can be deceiving though.

I like how they thought putting something about the Dawn of the Dead remake on the poster would get me stoked.

the dawn of the dead remake isn't as good as the original, but it definitely wasn't a piece of shit.

To be fair, the day I saw the remake in the theater, my life was in shambles. A potential reviewing is in order.

Not exactly going to be a surprise ending.

I've been highly skeptical of this from the beginning, all I hope is that it's not a total abomination.

I can't tell if this is a prequel or remake, some things are different and others are exactly the same...

Anyways, dilla is spazzing out over nothing, the "theme park" is nothing but a maze attraction Universal Studios is putting up for their annual Halloween Horrors event they do every year (they basically turn the whole park into a haunted house attraction) and sounds pretty cool.
Guests will find themselves in a series of face-to-face encounters with ג€œThe Thing,ג€ an alien creature that can transform itself into an exact replica of any living being. ג€œThe Thingג€ maze will recreate the spine-chilling suspense from the film, confronting guests with the paranoia and fear that comes from being trapped inside the filmג€™s Antarctic Thule station. The shape-shifting alien could be anywhere or anything. Will they survive?
Eerily authentic, ג€œThe Thingג€ maze will feature elaborately designed and disturbingly real alien creatures and sets. They will match the filmג€™s terrifying intensity and provoke both a memorable and disturbing experience. Universalג€™s theme parks have partnered with the filmג€™s producers, Strike Entertainmentג€™s Marc Abraham and Eric Newman (Dawn of the Dead) to create an experience that is authentic to the film. The sets, audio, musical score, creature and character references are all based on the thriller.
ג€œWe want people to live the film and experience the same terror that affects the filmג€™s characters,ג€ said Newman. ג€œOur collaboration with Universalג€™s creative teams brought the vision of the film to life. Weג€™re excited for Halloween Horror Nights guests to experience ג€˜The Thingג€™ in this frighteningly real way.ג€
Second, I'm going to be in Orlando visiting one of my honeydips the weekend the movie opens so we'll probably go check this thing out.

Watched this the other day.

Predictable story, poor CGI and badass, bearded norwegians. Like expected, I guess.

If you have half an hour-45 minutes to kill, then read Peter Watts - "The Things"

http://clarkesworldmagazine.com/watts_01_10/

I'd never seen "The Thing" before (always wanted to), but felt like I had to after I read this. I dled it and watched it, and then went back to the story intending to skim through and find the "a-ha" parts...and ended up reading the whole thing again because it's so fucking good. I'd imagine anyone who is a fan of "The Thing" will get quite a kick/thrill out of it. If in doubt, just read the first couple pages and you'll be hooked.

tldr: check out this super creepy and incredibly detailed and believable retelling of "The Thing" from the Thing's perspective
