This is fairly well known and was on a lot of mixtapes back in the day but I thought I'd upload the full, good quality untagged version...

I think this was from one of those Source promo tapes. Then when it hit the internet it got bundled in as a "Foulness" freestyle or called "Escobar Season Begins"

There were a couple of versions of the It Was Written promo tape. On that promo cd rip it's definitely labelled Foulness pt 1, on some of the tapes it was labelled 96 Freestyle I think, but I haven't had the tape for a long time so may be wrong on that.

Didnt realise it was on that promo tape. I just picked it up on a 12" back in 96. I remember being there when the delivery came in the shop and I swear they sold every copy without it even making it onto the racks.

Has anyone got a good quality copy of the freestyle Nas did thats pretty much a 'part 2' to this ? he's rhyming over 'Young Gifted and Black' and (maybe) 'You Gots To Chill'

step one: i'll have to check it out, i might have it. as this is labeled as "The Foulness" from the CD promo and i got several parts of "The Foulness" so maybe it's one of them?

if my memory serves me correct it was double sided, I just don't remember anything else being on there.

The Foulness numbers get mixed up on the net, though.

Has anyone got the Tragedy Freestyle Flava?

Also, claaa7, have you got a decent rip of the Foulness one with Nas and Nature on the Shootouts beat? It's probably part 3. I have it but the quality is always lacking. It's probably one of Nature's best verses.

i'll have to check tomorrow, but if my memory serves me correct i think all the "Foulness" frestyles i got besides maybe one are pretty weak quality.

I remember I got that tape and ras kass 'sampler on ice' shrink wrapped in with issues of the source

say, there was a slightly different version of "if i ruled the world", don't remember if the snippet on the tape was like that, or if it was just on the internet back then - I remember listening to the snippet online a lot anticipating the album (and being fairly disappointed when it dropped)

The version of 'If I ruled the world' that I remember hearing on the tape was pretty much the same as the released version.

I don't think I've ever heard a different version, that would be good to hear.

It's the same, it just has an extended intro if i remember correctly.
