Smoke Break is the joint

After Gangrene, Alchemist keeps climbing up in my list of favorites. Used to think he was mediocre at best
Hold on let me see if I give a damn:

I've been bumpin this shit all weekend...such a good album. The best tracks IMO are Scottie Pippen and the last track. I really hope this turns into a series like PT because Alc and Spitta are a great combo.

yeah, he's playing in b-more. if he's any good, i'll make the hr trek. if not, i'll wait til the rolling papers tour comes through. just don't want to put up with a long ass wiz khalifa set.

currensy is great live, seen him a few times and every time was good. surprisingly lyrically oriented on stage, he often cuts the instrumental halfway and just finishes the song acapella, which is really some shit considering how many rappers just rhyme over full songs these days instead of instrumentals.

what's the deal with #jetsgo, is it meant for a future release or is it just something extra from the ep

Saw Curren$y live once but unfortunately it was with Wiz Khalifa and the whole thing was pretty underwhelming. I am definitely considering going to this show he has coming up as one of our editors already bought tickets.

Muscle Car Chronicles is already done and the tracklisting is out, plus that album is all Sean O'Connell, #Jetsgo is produced by DJ Khalil's understudy Rahki

Saw Curren$y live last year in BK about a month before Pilot Talk, he was pretty good but I thought he could've went with a better setlist. He did a grip of joints off of Smokey Robinson, which was the most recent release at the time.

I like this album a lot, but it's 75% Alchemist...not necessarily a knock on Curren$y, but I can't remember a recent hip-hop album with this many good beats. Life Instructions is insane, can only imagine someone like Spekt or Billy Woods on that beat. After repeat listens, I'm starting to appreciate Curren$y, but my biggest problem is that he doesn't drop any jewels. His flow, voice, wordplay, & beat selection is all sick, but he just isn't telling me anything I need to hear. I will definitely try to re-listen to Pilot Talk 1 & 2 though, because I like Ski, but nothing from Curren$y has held my attention like this joint with ALC.

I don't know...he has wordplay, but I'm wifed up. I smoke erryday, but not as much as I used to. Maybe he would have had jewels for me 10 years ago, but despite his lyrical depth, he doesn't come off as a real deep dude to me. I haven't listened a ton, so my judgment may be premature, but I haven't heard a track yet that blows me away and makes me want to get behind him.

I know you hear me Jack...but these ALC beats are insane. I just re-listened to Pilot Talk II and the rappin' is better than I remember, but it pales in comparison to this new joint overall. Alchemist is the best producer in the game point blank after this shit. I don't really understand them releasing this for free...hopefully that means there's a full length coming up and hopefully Al hears all the praise and gets to work with a slew of different MCs. Shit takes me back to first hearing Alchemist on The Realest with Kool G. Dude's better than ever.

Curren$y does a decent job flowing over beats. Occasionally he says something clever in a manner that makes his mundane activities seem regal and intriguing. That's it. He ain't dropping any fucking jewels.

Scottie Pippens feat. Feddie Gibbs is .

This is the EP to beat so far this year. Supremely dope.

^What, the cover art or the album itself? That'd be crazy if he had another project out already... or are you talking about Covert Coup?

There's one line Fiend spits on this track is that is insane:
I call pape time travel machine.
It can get you there faster but it can't wake a permanent sleep.
:ohsh:
Is that a fucking theoretical physics reference? Did Fiend see Primer?

simple, but dope...love how he's able to express a lot of the lyrics through his facial expressions.

Thun is right though. There isn't anything amazing that ever comes out of his mouth. Most of us are intrigued to even listen because of the production he gets.

Who doesn't fast forward to Gibbs on Scottie Pippens?

I enjoy listening to him rap a lot, like thun said, he's not dropping knowledge, but he is more clever and entertaining lyrically than 95 percent of current rappers. that being said, I enjoy him much more over the lush beats of ski than Alchemist's sparse style.
