spoiler: Why would you cut your HAND OFF. I don't care. I would have not still have been hand cuffed to shit. and he had waaaaay too long to get that saw and get the cuffs off. cut the dam cuffs.

Other wise this shit is classic zombie lore. My fave zombie related thing thing since Suan of the Dead.

Well the guy thought the zombies were going to break through at any minute, plus he was half crazy already so it wasn't that big a stretch. I did think it was a bit silly that he hadn't tried to grab the saw already. That's pretty much the first thing you'd look for in that situation.

I thought it was a pretty damn good episode, probably the best thusfar. Loving all the interpersonal conflict developing.

yeah when it panned down to his hand being sawed off, my wife who had been reading her book and barely paying any attention looked up and said "Why would you saw your hand off and not the cuffs?" BUT I do agree with jamrage that the situation might have been dire enough to warrant it. I think Viggo Mortensen's stunt double is doing a fine job of carrying this show. In an ensemble cast like this I don't think the acting skills are that far off from LOST in its first season? Great great show. Cant believe the season is only 6 episodes? WTF? And I hope the father and son from episode 1 show back up, they kicked so much ass.

I haven't watched this episode yet, but has anyone tried to cut a decent gauge chain with a hacksaw? Your hand will come off in a fraction of the time.

Yeah handcuffs are kindof designed so that you can't cut them very easily. Sort of the point of handcuffs. Although I can't imagine you'd get very far after cutting off your hand without proper medical attention, you'd lose too much blood. Still this is a show about fucking zombies, suspension of disbelief is kindof necessary to enjoy it.

Good episode. Next week looks like its going to be absolutely insane.

Shane? No I don't think so, I hope we see the flashback but when Grimes comes out of his hospital room, it's sort of barricaded by a hospital bed, I'm thinking Ol Shane took the zombie apocalypse as an opportunity to get in good with Grimey's wife.

If he was smart, he would just cut his thumb off and slid his hand out that way.

So, we can all agree that cutting his hand off was like the 5th thing on the "ways to get out" list?

I think we should all just agree that he obviously suffers from body integrity identity disorder.

And that he needs to get a hook hand.

Yes, but again he was crazy and he thought the zombies were about to get up there so cutting his hand off was probably the quickest solution.

This is what happened unless they change it from the source material. Gotta remember that Grimes was thought to be dead for quite a while before he woke up so there was plenty of time for Shane to move in.

I think its pretty obvious that they weren't hooking up before the shit hit the fan, just judging by the way she immediately cut all ties to Shane once she realized her husband was alive.

Still a fucking whore though.

Grimes reuniting with his wife and son reminded me of Jin and Sun's reunion in the final season of Lost.

I'm actually finding a lot of similarities between the 2 shows.

Word, definitely not his bad as much as his wife's for not waiting even two months before she started blowing dudes in the woods.

Season Two May Not Hit Until October 2011
Most Walking Dead fans know there's only six episodes in this first season. I know, the season is half finished even though it feels like it's just getting started.
But here's what you didn't know, or perhaps only feared: Sources say AMC isn't likely to launch the 13-episode second season until next October.
The reason? Fearfest. AMC's annual horror movie marathon served as a perfect promotional platform to ramp up interest for The Walking Dead, which also took advantage of the higher audience levels during the fall (something not all cable shows can pull off given the barrage of broadcast shows airing at the same time -- which is why most cable dramas run during the summer).
Plus, AMC has already pushed Breaking Bad from March to the summer, and has Mad Men airing in the summer as usual, and at some point has to squeeze in the premiere of its new original series, The Killing. Combined with Walking Dead, that's four shows to air next year, the most the network has ever had, and cable networks tend to spread out their premieres so they can properly promote each one.
Now, the October plan is not final, and there probably won't be a firm premiere date for awhile -- heck, the second season hasn't even started production yet. But the current strategy is for another October roll out.
Some silver lining: Frank Darabont is expected to write and direct another episode next year.
