The Next Great White Hype?

Post by Philaflava »

Yela is not new by any means but it seems like his popularity is growing by the day. Besides Eminem there isn't another white emcee with as much hype, talent, co-signing and major label attention right now like Yelawolf.

Before Em dropped Jimmy hired him a personal trainer to lose about 30lbs and gave him a bottle of bleach to look like Pony boy. I don't think Yela is going to appeal to the same TRL demographic but many people who once liked Em have grown tired.

Is Yela going to fill that void or by this time next year will it be cool to hate on him?

He will get bigger for sure, but he will never get to Eminem status. I like part of what he does, but something about him already annoys me.

dont like that nappy roots arrested development/ bonecrusher ass twang shit. talking about short body cadillacs n shit. like taking the worst about big gipp and khujo goodie and multiplying it. yelawolf has rhyme style patterns or whatever but it ends there. i dont have one song of his on my itunes dont foresee it either. its not about having guilt out about the south's ways, i just find that shit real fuckin goofy, and pimp c is pretty much the only person who has pulled off being country as shit successfully in my always correct opinion

He isn't likely to "blow up" simply because he doesn't bring anything "new" to the mainstream white boy rap game. Bubba Sparxx pretty much already did the country white thing and retards will always say he sounds too much like Eminem. He will get more popular simply because he makes really really good rap music and will start to show on bigger artist's songs, but I doubt he will be at next year's VMAs or anything.

Trunk Muzik is my pick for Album of The Year pretty much hands down. I hope he stays right where he is, only with Organized Noize beats.

Garyoldmanwolf is by no means unskilled. But I am still undecided as to his staying power. What he needs is a producer handing him nothing but gutter, nasty, funky, mid-tempo shit that he can float over. He has the panache (nh) to make it cool to rap fast again on the radio. Hopefully the Male Ass Masters with any real influence over the direction of his career will encourage this.

More likely than not, though, he'll be on the next Beiber album rapping in autotune.

his marketability will depend on his ability to write hooks. otherwise all that fast rappin wont sell.

every girl i know that know of him loves this dude. that's generally a good sign. one good club or romance song and he'll be on for at least a summer.

could go either way though...he hangs around with the famous-stars-and-straps-tattooed-white-boy-down-with-dyrdek crowd a bit much (pau wau, travis barker and the like)...so he could take a wrong turn and be stuck in obscurity.

he's different from Bubba Sparxxx, Haystak, Lil Wyte, or other white southern rappers out there that go for that style, IMO. he has the appeal and the style already and skills to back it up. as long as he gets the right kind of release and promo behind his shit, he might just be the next great white hype. gotta wait and see if the masses will take that bait.......

He has a really dumb stage name. Sometimes that alone wrecks a career.

This is what most of us said about Jay Electronica when he first dropped. Tanya Morgan for sure. Yelawolf undecided at this time.

that would be dj burn one

yela def has talent, and to add to what's already been mentioned his skater affiliations could maybe do something for him as well. i like him way more than his protege, the next next great white blog hype Rittz, aka gingerwolf

But you're right though. A name can really sway people in the opposite direction, especially with rappers.

Emillo Rojas? I will NEVER check for this dude. Cymarshall Law or Kosher Dillz, come on dude. Rappers could be dope as shit but if a name is corny I usually stay away. Life is too short and I don't have all the time in the world to invest in rappers so come correct or don't come at all.

it's not bad at all, the one long verse is solid. but to me the dude sounds like yela to begin with, and on top of that I like what ST and Jackie Chain did with that beat a lot more

if the next white hype isn't better than Eminem... then forget about him.

fuck rap regression. there has been enough in 2010. shit is fucking pathetic.

Eminem stepped the game UP. that's what made him a legend.

Beastie Boys, Everlast and 3rd Bass were not the best MCs in their era, in any argument except for with their most die hard fans.

If you are going to make hype on something besides skills, then fuck off. Yelawolf WILL be the next Bubba Sparkxxx (who was actually dope on the mic), but he also was and will not be as big as Marshall Mathers.

rap is fucking out of control.

case closed.
