Just saying though, people are talking about it like it's one of the Organized albums, feels like a new De la were coming out and people are saying Grind Date and Bionix sucked, hope it's more like AOI vol 1 or whateverThun wrote:Okay, and the next decade of rap yielded better albums?bignormy wrote:When did Internal Affairs become considered a good album anyway? It's a good album though. Not great, but a consistent mood/feel and pharohe does kill it in his own way. It seems like a logical enough progression from the OK sound.bignormy wrote:Just saying though, people are talking about it like it's one of the Organized albums, feels like a new De la were coming out and people are saying Grind Date and Bionix sucked, hope it's more like AOI vol 1 or whateverThun wrote:Okay, and the next decade of rap yielded better albums?bignormy wrote:When did Internal Affairs become considered a good album anyway? Maybe it's one of those ones that doesn't look so bad in retrospect. Like Water for Chocolate only seemed 1/2 awful instead of 3/4 when I picked it up again a couple of years ago. Haven't listen to Internal Affairs for years, maybe I'll check it out. Seemed incredibly corny at the time but with some decent moments. monch rapping about 'the ass', what was that garbage. I seem to be one of the only people who thought Simon Says was awful also, remix was ok.Thun wrote:It's a good album though. on that "shine", i think diamond was trying to do something similiar to pete rock's "#1 soul brother", but it just didn't have the same effect. since it's obviously a forced positive song it's hard to tell if it's indicative of the album's overall direction. hopefully not.
duck down's been hit or miss lately. skyzoo's the salvation was good for what it was, but if you look at what they're doing nowadays, it's basically watered down modern day pseudo boom-bap underground shit, which is at times brilliant, but mostly not good.
hearing monch over marco polo beats should atleast be interesting though.

faith is for faggots. though not in the sense of the derogatory term used for men & women who participate in same sex coupling and other alternative lifestyles, but in the popular Generation x use of the word used to slander adult males who engage in activities that fall short of the standard of masculinity (by Western Standards) set by his peers, such as collecting comic books, outwardly expressing feelings, or grasping onto "faith" that their long-standing idolized rappers, entertainers, & singers will produce music once again that will make them feel the magic they felt as children, thus allowing them to escape the everyday rigors of an unrewarding dayjob, a monotonous marriage, and fears of a double-dip recession in the face of already wide-spread state budget deficits and a growing underswell of resentment towards the prospect of raising taxes to alleviate the problem.

I'd take a CD of radio freestyles like this: http://vimeo.com/13860246 over a studio LP any day.

Good song that didn't make Desire.
The Royce and Jean Grae collabo needs a banging beat on par with Deadly Medley and spectacular verses. Besides that, not too hopeful sadly.

Desire had 3 or 4 songs that were incredible, which is more than you can say about most albums. It wasn't as good as his first solo, but it was more than decent.
The mixtape he put out before Desire dropped (The Awakening) was actually better than the album. Anyone have it for download? Here are a few tracks from it:

still have faith?? shiiiiiet Pharoahe is one of the best to ever do it. Desire wasn't on his typical shit, but it was still dope. Not as good as internal affairs, but good nonetheless.
I think he's goin' back to his own style with this one. I'm anticipating major heat.

I will give this new one a chance.
and i have faith in Pharoahe, but I don't have faith that he has faith in hip hop.

there's just something missing from Pharoahe now that one kinda assumed he'd have forever.
still, he's a legendary mythical beast on the mic
W.A.R. will hopefully set the bar for 2011
