Desire had some great songs, but I can't really listen to the whole album at once. I really like some of those songs with horns and live instruments, though.

I will give this new one a chance.

When did Internal Affairs become considered a good album anyway? It was another in a long line of disappointing Rawkus LPs. Monch's version of the giancana story.

It's a good album though. Not great, but a consistent mood/feel and pharohe does kill it in his own way. It seems like a logical enough progression from the OK sound.

Maybe it's one of those ones that doesn't look so bad in retrospect. Like Water for Chocolate only seemed 1/2 awful instead of 3/4 when I picked it up again a couple of years ago. Haven't listen to Internal Affairs for years, maybe I'll check it out. Seemed incredibly corny at the time but with some decent moments. monch rapping about 'the ass', what was that garbage. I seem to be one of the only people who thought Simon Says was awful also, remix was ok.

on that "shine", i think diamond was trying to do something similiar to pete rock's "#1 soul brother", but it just didn't have the same effect. since it's obviously a forced positive song it's hard to tell if it's indicative of the album's overall direction. hopefully not.

duck down's been hit or miss lately. skyzoo's the salvation was good for what it was, but if you look at what they're doing nowadays, it's basically watered down modern day pseudo boom-bap underground shit, which is at times brilliant, but mostly not good.

hearing monch over marco polo beats should atleast be interesting though.

A lot of desire was mad fillerish to me, but I do remember digging 3 tracks pretty deep. Hasn't gotten spin in a long time though, I probably will always check for monch's new stuff, but my expectations are near gloss's

Desire had 3 or 4 songs that were incredible, which is more than you can say about most albums. It wasn't as good as his first solo, but it was more than decent.

still have faith?? shiiiiiet Pharoahe is one of the best to ever do it. Desire wasn't on his typical shit, but it was still dope. Not as good as internal affairs, but good nonetheless.

I think he's goin' back to his own style with this one. I'm anticipating major heat.
