people used to compare me to Last Emperor and Digable Planets in the late 90's.thekeentwo wrote:this is what u should sound like, bender. for real, study this dude. he reminds me of a more polished you.Mindbender Futurama wrote:<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/IH01VHTbXk8&co ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/IH01VHTbXk8&co ... edded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

and you're going to sit there like some smug prognosticator and "predict the future of the forum" now? what a fucking waste of potential braincells you are.Thun wrote:^The future of this forum. All MB talk, all day.
I disagree with the latter part of this assessment. First of all, he's used a laid back style for years. Second, this track is called "Fine Art." His whole delivery is indicative of an intricately detailed approach to rhyming.Mindbender Futurama wrote: Emp still got the dope writing skills, but his energy is a little reserved and the beat is cool for heads like us, but I guess he's not trying to get any new fans...

As far as him not trying to get any new fans, I don't know what's going on in his mind, but in my opinion this dude could be way more popular with the right promotion. It's not a matter of beats. Look at the success Cuban Linx 2 had last year. If Pitchfork or someone similar were to give Emp the hype he rightfully deserves then mad heads will hop on board. Not counting on this, but hey, you never know.
If I remember correctly, Mos Def called Emp his favorite rapper back when they were both with Rawkus. That said, a Mos Def guest spot couldn't hurt.
yea there's def a resemblance here. never really occurred to me before.thekeentwo wrote:

pretty rarely... i think the release party for "science team...go" was the only one this year.Balzac wrote: for philly heads, is he active in the local scene? does he hit up stages every now and then?
Word is bond. I was just listening to this yesterday.Verge wrote:Last Emp is a true talent. Don't sleep, check that TROY thread. All that "he's too weird too blow up" shit, nah, he had a chance back in the mid 90s but I don't know what exactly happened.
Can he blow up now? No. Not many can and I don't really care. As long as he still puts out dope, then I'll support.
This shit right here gets put on repeat every time I hear it:

Word. Okay, I can feel that. Yeah, it might have blown him up. The collective joints that would make up his 1996 "Legend Of Bigffot" LP are mostly all great, too.KITFUNK wrote:Word is bond. And what happened, the reason he didn't blow up in the 90s was because Dre put his project on the back burner.
