this album scared the fuck out of me when i was a kid. the Jello Biafra intro 'Shut Up, Be Happy'?
his last great creation before it started fucking up. he had a good run.
to the Iceberg.
he also puts on an AMAZING fucking concert. see it if you can, even once in your life.
peace to Tracy

Ice T is seriously underrated by faggots that think Rakim/Kane/KRS/G Rap etc are the end all/be all of late 80s rap

He wasn't even remotely in the same league as those guys.
When I was little , I like him cause he cursed but once I got old enough to not be impressed with that, his music got markedly less interesting to me.
One thing I'll say for him is he always had some dope beats though and that certainly helped his basically average rapping skills.

as a Lyrical Miracle, maybe not, but intellectually, his lyrics shit on all of those mentioned above. not KRS. Show me ONE Kane, G Rap or Rakim track that can even match "Colors". Ice T has dope story telling for days, political knowledge hidden in almost every song and his wife that has huge tits and ass, and that HAS to count for something in this hiphop world, dont it?Blockhead wrote:I like(d) Ice-T and all but seriousstep one wrote:

og was peak of his career. and when u know that he made home video containing video for every single song from the album - that gotta mean something. but og ain't my favorite album. iceberg is my #1. i only wish colors was on that album. that would made it perfect. but never the less, iceberg is great album, from great intro to the last song. only weak link might be "the girl tried to kill me" song, but that's kind of song he has on every album, so i guess it's his trademarknickwoj wrote:am i the only one who thinks OG is his best album by far?
and like cenzi said, he has great story telling technique. just listen to hunted child! awesome track.
i wish they came out with 2 cd reissue of iceberg, contiaing some rare and never before heard songs and remixes from that era...
if they dont do it soon, i might do it myself...

o yeah, and as far as coco goes... DAMN! she looks even better that the girl from power cover...
im saying, the lazy/obvious answer when heads bring up the great storytellers is to go with Slick Rick or G Rap but Ice T had a real talent for that shit:
6 n The Morning
The Tower
Peel Their Caps Back
The Hunted Child
Drama
Bitches 2
Lifestyles Of The Rich...
New Jack Hustler

Ice T is def slept on for his lyrical ability. He has lots of joints. OG contains some of his best work for sure. He was at a lyrical peak right there; "New Jack Hustler" is a very excellent songs, lyrically and musically. "Home Invasion" has joints to though. Particularly this b-side called, "Mixed Up" with him and SLJ, that's one of my fav Ice T songs ever and the beat is bonkers!
I admit Ice T never makes my top ten all time list but he's one of those guys that I always consider but doesn't quite make it....

well, midnight is kinda follow up to 6 in the morning, but ain't as half as good. i used to love that track for that beet (remix for it is even harder), but when i listen to it now, lyrics sounds pretty lame, so i would scratch that one from his greatest storytelling list...Sankofa wrote:^don't forget Midnight
but i would add that's how i'm living... (original of course, not that weak remix). i was born in new jersey, i said it before but i guess nobody heard me... that's just great.
and i would also add colors & killers
the man made some great song. period.
Odnet wrote:I have to disagree with you about "Midnight". That is an incredible story track. All the details really make it:
"The Alpine deck was glowin'/Bumpin' Big Daddy, the nigga was definitely flowin'..."
"Looked through the tint, recognized the jack..."
"Shot a fool through his fucking mouth..."

this is one of my favorite tracks. He fuckin kills it when he ends with "looked at my clock it was 6 in the morning..."
