it's brilliant in the sense that he's probably making a nice sum on these.
on the other hand, it's a total scam, and they are probably the last headphones you wanna pay $350 for.
the lady is portraying it as if these headphones are gonna revolutionize the industry
i call bullshit

When I watch basketball games and they show images of players getting ready to ball, there are a lot of heads with them on. They are listening to them on the bus to the stadium, on the plane, the locker room, etc. Dre's got some serious co-signs from Lebron and Kobe and it's one of the reasons why everybody is trying to sport these. College basketball players were probably spending their tuition money when I saw some of them with them on during the NCAA tourny recently as well.
I saw some muthafucka with them on at the movies last week. It should not be that serious to take them there though.

I use Shure and their used by a lost of artists when performing on stage. They also have great customer service and replaced some faulty ones I had even after two years. They had stopped making the ones I had so replaced them with the next level up and even had them couriered to me.Req wrote:what are some good smaller headphones for Apple shit?

well they're made by monster, which is pretty much the definition of bullshit scam...however, unlike audio cables, headphones scale up easily (more expensive components -> better sound, at least up to ~$500) so there's a chance that they are actually competitive with other headphones in that price range. you're definitely paying a premium for dre's name, the question is whether that premium is $25 or $100. either way great move for him.
at that price i'd take the sennheiser hd600s or some beyerdynamics, or maybe grado sr225s + an amp.

i see people with Beats by Dr. Dre headphones and I want to jack them like they are wearing some rare ass Patrick Ewing sneakers and the year is 1990, LOL
Dre also put out earbud versions of his shit for like $90 bucks... but i don't do earbuds, they don't fit in my alien ears (really they dont)
but i can't justify paying that much for headphones just cause they say Gangsta Rap Godfather on them. i'll cop some free ones tho, ha ha
they better sound like hip hop having sex with your ears

I have a pair of them and they're the best headphones I've ever used. Although, I got mine on sale for $269.99 a few months ago... Monster makes some of the most reliable products in the audio accessories industry, hands down.
And they're not even the most expensive headphones on the market. There are Bose and Sennheiser and various others that are just as much or more than these.
My only complaint about them is that they run on AAA batteries and after I'm done with a session I always leave them turned on when I put them back in the case, and of course the batteries are dead when I use them again.
But seriously, try them out before you hate. They're phenomenal.

Unless they usher in a new revolution in the way a person hears music, you are paying for Dr. Dre's name.reevolution wrote:I have a pair of them and they're the best headphones I've ever used. This is what happened. Monster approached Jimmy about using an artist to represent them. Who better than Dre since that demo is more likely to be buying these than Gwen's demo. Jimmy goes to Dre, there is 2M with your name on it if you do a few commercials and promo spots with me.
Dre being the savvy businessman like he is said sure, give me x-amount to finish Detox and we'll kill two birds with one stone.

People acting like 350 is way too expensive for headphones. I've got some expensive head phones for producing, but other than that I'll use whatever to listen to my i-pod, because I usually only listen to my i-pod at the gym. Never tried Dre head phones yet though. I'm sure Dre doesn't use these when he's in the studio..

Taken them on tours for the past 2 years. Never broken once. Sound all sorts of amazing.
Dre headphones are a little better than noise canceling headphones designed for airplanes, but they aren't touching the real deal.

riggggggght. ear buds vs headphones, foh.an-also wrote:Pretty much. I know someone who was trying to sell them. I tried them out and my 50 dollar ear buds sounded 10X better quality wise.Employee wrote:LOL @ people paying more than $19.99 for these.
brilliant marketing and selling the customer bullshit go hand in hand. as has been stated, obviously you're paying a premium for dre's name. that being said, that doesn't mean they can't also be decent enough head phones. i haven't tried em out but 350 isn't that outrageous. if these are being out performed by Sony MDR v600's then yall have reason to complain but most reviews seem to indicate otherwise.

if they run on AAA batteries, they get the gas face, on principle.
major flaw in design.

you don't make headphones that need batteries! who does that?
deserves another

When asked if he thinks the average person is willing to shell out $350 for headphones, he says abolutely.
I love music, probably more than the average person but have never spent more than $25 on some headphones. If i had some money to burn maybe i would spend $50.
