Also I purposely didn't watch the wire for several years after I'd heard about it because Icesickle kept talking about how good it was and how it was racist that it didn't win any awards. :phila:

I use the Ice man and Tommy Bunz as measuring devices for whether I should watch something. If Ice says go, I says no, if Tommy Bunz agrees with Ice, I'll give it a chance.

Brother Mouzone is by far the worst character in the whole of the Wire. He's one of the few characters who comes across as a complete cartoon. Everything he says is completely contrived and he speaks as if he's reading off of Thun's teleprompter at a fundraiser for people who closely resemble Phife Dog and Lupe Fiasco.
This is a correct statement.

You had reservations about watching it because you thought it was some B-Grade "urban" cop drama like NY Undercover. You never explained your reasoning behind that assumption.

I just finished watching for the first time, and I can say that it did live up to the hype.

The only thing I'm pissed about is that Rawls never got outed as a fag, but at the same time, it's very cool how they just showed him at a gay bar for 2 seconds once and never went back to it.

Afformentioned goon is played by DeAndre from The Corner, if you care about such things.

I just rewatched S2 again. Holy dicks it is just amazing.

^I haven't seen The Corner in years, but from what I remember, aren't there quite a few characters/actors that were on both?

As I've said before a combination of having read the book and not wanting to be depressed again, an aversion to Charles S. Dutton's weird insertion into the series, and it just being so weird to see Lester and others in new roles made it kinda impossible for me to watch The Corner.

I'm sure it's very good, but man- the book was soul crushing and I like my soul and don't want it crushed again.

And to be clear- I'm not talking about the actors WRT DeAndre- it's the actual kid- being a fat actor and no longer a going to die at 20 drug dealer.

After the latest Pulitzer prizes season 5 might now actually be the best season of the show. The NYT submitted there hard hitting expose on fucking cell phones while driving and how they helped to pressure the legislator to pass an unenforceable law.

If anyone still hasn't copped the whole series DVD box set, I copped one off this guy for $60 and change. Unopened, perfect condition, must be dead stock. He's got over 10 more copies if anyone's interested.
