what? LOL. why? I shave and I look like I'm 21. I don't care if I'm 32. Kool Keith is like 42 but looks like he's 19 cause of his babyface (Joey Buddden says pause).Philaflava wrote:keep the facial hair.
I'm not even a hairy Noo Jerzy guido anyways. What Jim Jones musters with his 5 o'clock shadow takes me about two weeks to sprout, ha. Whatevs.
sorry Jason, I'll probably shave it off. Or maybe I'll keep it until the album release party. Wait, you said that tasteless Def Jux joke to me. I'm shaving 'er off! LOL.
thanks for listening.
cause it's Showtime! word to Eddie Murphy and Robert DeNiro.iCONtheMicKing wrote:why you look like Rza dressed as a Matrix extra though?
"RZA dressed as a Matrix extra." I like that, thanks!
iCON, I really have been on the hunt for a monstrous beat for us and I have a bunch of beautifully hubristic bars written already. Sorry, I know I could be faster, but I'm not sleeping on our collab. The spare beats I got here aren't the direction I think the song should be. It will happen at the right moment. like a week before Drake's album drops in March. ha.
I digress. Back to... PIMP.

Bender you're having a convo with yourself because I don't know what you're talking about. I just said keep the facial hair so it goes with your "new" approach. I agree with Mike though you need to shorten your verses and let the listener breathe. You overdo every verse you write and it never works to your advantage.

rly? i think i've been funnier.Moolah wrote:Mindbender Futurama wrote:a new chapter begins.
i also performed 'F.A.I.L.' here last night, which went over well.
I don't think he said that. But I was trying to figure that out, too.mike eagle wrote:what did that guy in the audience scream at :24
did he say "you're thirty-two years old" ?
I like the hook...the verses may be too long. Was that whole song two verses?
yeah, it was 2 verses. I also thought about doubling up the chorus, but that would make the song 5 minutes, even though the beat is hypnotic enough to be enjoyable. yes the verses are long, but I think each line is dope enough. I always try to push the boundaries a bit with people's attention span.
the last 4 bars I was too amped and delivered them too hard, but they are:
"listen missus, i'll make your clittoris rise after i tickle your thighs and nibble inside/ before the ridiculous physical ride/ jizz sweeter than cinnamon spice/ plus my inches are like nine and a half, it's a fact, i'm a pimpin kingpin for life"
this song is fun. one day after i made it, someone from this show requested me to show up to a party tonight and perform it. i'm telling you guys, I got love for this shit, but i'm not going to stay where i've been, and i'm not who i used to be.
thanks for everyone checking it. there's 12 more songs like this.
nuff respect, Mike. after the clip, there's some stories of me, Fritz the Cat and Buck 65 on the "In Search of Divine Styler" book launch panel, and us telling our stories of when I rocked Project Blowed. Peace to Abstract Rude and Aceyalone
i don't know what they are, but... yeah.DLG wrote:pleather pants?

I cant tell you how much of a bad idea i think this notion is. I think its every rapper's duty to be as engaging as possible on stage...or else you're just up there stroking yourself off. You've got a stage presence but if your verses are so long that its giving people an opportunity to tune out, they will. And they wont feel like they missed anything either.Mindbender Futurama wrote: I always try to push the boundaries a bit with people's attention span.

duly noted. No two songs have the same structure, so we'll see.mike eagle wrote:I cant tell you how much of a bad idea i think this notion is. But I felt like it wasn't a waste of life to watch that. The crowd enjoyed it. Still, I have yet to make my perfect song though. I want to make 9 minute staggering works of heartbreaking genius, but also I want to whip up the perfect 2:20 song, or even make one song in my life as short, sweet and catchy as 'Crazy' by Gnarls Barkley. Walking the line between following the rules and not: our eternal struggle.
thanks Piff.
and yes, Ardamus and iCON, I killed the third verse of 'F.A.I.L.' to just get some wicked crowd interaction happening over that banging beat. Felt great. They enjoyed the song more too. You want to hear all 3 verses? Buy the album. Ha.

Do you know how many songs have the exact same structure?
In hip-hop alone there are at lest 5,000 songs structured with:
8 bar intro
16 bar verse
8 bar chorus
16 bar verse
8 bar chorus
16 bar chorus
8 bar outro
Thousands of years ago cats figured out the most effective ways to structure music, man. Follow their lead, it will greatly benefit you.
Deliberately testing the threshold of your audience's attention span will always backfire.

At least you're comfortable on stage. That's more than you can say for 99% of rappers.
