What's "Cue's"?

I know out here in the Bay Area we had a record store called Cue's. It was in Daly City (which is next to San Francisco). DJ Apollo worked there. It was a great place cuz they always had all the NY shit... Including the White Labels and more "official" Bootleg 12" singles of shit that never came out.

Oh shit ok, I didn't notice the website you had in your initial post. Good shit.

I loved that record store. I'd always hit it up on almost a weekly basis. It was very sad when they closed down.

Cue's was a really dope spot. It closed in 2000. More info here, http://cuesrecords.com/CuesRecords.com/History.html

As for the promo pics, I got a few stashed in the garage. Lemme try and dig up some of the good ones....

Good looks, TheBigSleep. Only had the first one, and a wack cropped version of the second. That D.I.T.C. group one is lovely. Props for the hi-res, too.

Here's a COOL STORY BRO:
I met Common at an instore back right before One Day It'll All...
The flyer, once again, had the wrong time on it.
And I had been gallavanting with nothing to do while the signing was actually going on.

Anyways, I get there, it's over.
I see DJ Eclipse. Knew him for years, basically from Fat Beats.
I had the :owens: face on and started protesting that the flyer was wrong!!

He's mad good people. He let me into the back room where Common was
chillin with the 'important record store fags..ahem..people'.

Eclipse gave me a Common Promo pic and Common was pretty cool,
I gotta say. We were bs'ing about NO ID and how he killed Resurrection.

But he signed the pic,"To Splurge...(bla, bla,bla)...Common".
:fail:

I recognize the name and I'm sure I've heard his music, but I can't place
it right now. Definitely sounds like worth listening to, though, thanks.

Ahhhhhh... DJ Oni One. He used to sell me crazy Wu-Tang records way back in the day. Great guy. Is he still around?

No idea, that was posted by a guy on the BigLOnline forums named raredave who said he bought that record from Oni One like eight years ago (the beginning of the decade). I don't have any more information really but I think this might be him: http://www.discogs.com/messages/compose?to=oni-one

Here are some promo pics I collected from the internets.

There's around 100 pics, about 70% from the West Coast & South (a lot of Rap-A-Lot pics). All of them are UNSIGNED!

Last Sunday at the closing day of Fat Beats LA, I took pictures of all the signings they had in the store. They had a few promo pics signed to FatBeatsLA. Here's the artists with promo pics: Cocoa Brovaz, Diamond D, Common, EPMD, KRS-One, Al' Tariq, Artifacts, and Original Gunn Clappaz.

Nice collection. You were fortunate if you owned a record store in the 90's, I bet many former owners are looking back on their promo materials now as treasures. now that the digital age has taken over. I haven't seen that many promo pics since going to Sound Library in NY.

This is a great thread. There's probably some more promo pics at Upnorthtrips blog. I know I've boosted a bunch of cool pics from there in the last couple of months. Just a lot to sort through.
