Likelihood Nas forgot he ever made the song roughly 5 minutes after making it?

Nah. Rakim has always been super low key, ducking excess attention at all turns. This is fairly consistent behavior from him.

Probably but the whole "he never reached out" part kinda sounds like he would have liked Nas to maybe hit him up for a collabo, show or something that might have benefited Rakim. Also there is a VERY VERY possible chance that Rakim reached out to Nas after the track, maybe for a guest spot on his own album and like Nas usually does, he never responded. I wouldn't put it past him. Nas cares about Nas.

I guess anything is possible but honestly I get this feeling that Rakim doesn't even generally like/respect Nas, and doesn't even want to collaborate with him. I'm pretty sure Rakim isn't broke or desperate and as far as I know he doesn't have a rep for coming off like such.

they've been on a couple of tracks together so I wouldve thought they were cool with each other. Bit weird Rakim bringing it up 5 years after it dropped.
Maybe in another 2 years KRS will get mad Nas never did the 'Unauthorised Biography of KRS' he mentions at the end of the Rakim one.

yeah nas is a nut but this is kinda a wack move by ra. i just don't really get what he accomplishes by bringing this up 5 years later.

Nas should've done this song after Rakim's retirement or something. Now it feels funny becouse the man is still in the game. Tributes always work better when they're done after the legends career of death.

Bringing up his kid's names is a bit creepy - Nas should of kept it hiphop.

I wonder if at the time of the MTV interview Rakim had even heard the joint.

Rakim is mad flaky to me. He was doe enough to put out some major hits back when... but then nothing. The man is washed up, but y'all are too scared to break the hiphop code and to insult the great Ra is blasphemy. suck my cock cheese.

Rakim should be mad that the song is wack, not that Nas did it w/0 permission. Such a lazy song man. It COULD have been a classic song, but it came off as lazy and boring. The best is at the end when he is listing the albums: "Dropped the R, then the 18th Letter, and I think, somethin', The
Master."

LMAO that shit always cracked me up. Another "could have been dope" from my favorite rapper Nas.
