Decepticon references?? (Mixtape idea)
I just finished listening to Jemini's "Brooklyn Kids" and that reference never gets old to me;
Now everybody talkin' 'bout the West Coast, yeah,
they real with the steel but we was packin' toast
in the days long gone, living wrong, living trife,
Lo-Lifes and Decepticons rolling through the night...
I think it would be ill to compile a bunch of Decepticons references onto one mix. Any ideas off the top of the head?
All I've got so far are the afore-mentioned Jemini track and One Be Lo's "Decepticons."

...and no, not the cartoons.
Mass Appeal's "Decepticons: Legendary Street Gang"
Don't know how to embed...sorry.

That's crazy. Me and Thun were just talking about that exact verse and
the Decepticon, Lo Life, and 5% "movements" the other day.
I always knew that verse, but I didn't know he said "Lo Life" in it.
I could swear Common mentioned Decepticons
on at least one occasion.
Can't think of any others right now...

Since Thirston Howl III is a "Lo Life" and has been rhyming since like
1986, apparently, I would guess that he must have mentioned the
Decepticons somewhere along the way.

"They roll a hundred deep in the street like cattle"
I remember that line and the one you wrote from Jemini's Brooklyn Kids then I watched the Eddie Black Story which was about the decepticons and then it all clicked.
You might wanna try and get that movie lots of dialogue about Decepticons in it.
Not sure where to get any other vocal samples tho...

For some reason, I thought there was a decepticon reference on the late 90s Dujeous track "Breathtaking", but one of Mojo's clones was talking about Lexicons and Flexicons.
Dujeous - Breathtaking
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/sh ... on=8,0,0,0" id="divplaylist" width="335" height="28"><param name="movie" value="http://www.divshare.com/flash/playlist? ... 06"><embed src="http://www.divshare.com/flash/playlist?myId=6058058-c06" name="divplaylist" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" width="335" height="28"></embed></object>
Just to clarify, Mojo has the first verse. He is one of the more underrated MCs in mid-to-late 90s NYC hippie rap, IMO.

Are we looking for more stuff talking about the crew or just any Decepticon references?
One Be Lo - Deceptacons
http://www.zshare.net/audio/632493312f7a49d0/
Mentions 'decepticons' once, but referring to people changing toward the
negative.

Hmm. Good point. This is turning out to be a little tougher than I thought.Verge wrote:Are we looking for more stuff talking about the crew or just any Decepticon references?
Both? References to the crew would be preferable, though. I'd like the mixtape to be themed around those kinds of references.

plus just an ill reference-filled verse from DV Alias Khrist
