If you enjoy the album, fine, but don't act as if there's something wrong with long time fans being put off by its direction and feeling "shitted on" in the process. And no one is claiming that purchasing a Cage record grants them any say-so about the "artist's life choices or musical direction", just that this shit sucks and the manner and timing of such a drastic sonic departure is questionable and disappointing. That's a perfectly reasonable position.

I agree that he is trying to appeal to a bigger audience, but I don't really fault him for that, nor do I think it is some dishonest marketing scheme. His audience had to change. It is obvious he isn't the same guy he was, so his music changed, so it only makes sense his fanbase changed.
