looking forward to it. but feeling suspect about it. if kanye doesnt rap that well....how the fuck is he gonna sing well? andre pulls it off partly because what andres singing sounds good

Kanye + autotune >>>>> Andre's singing
Dre is an infinitely better rapper, even if I'm not a fan of his "hokey pokey"-isms

Singing is all about pitch and tone, hence the vocoder. Rapping is about rhythm, rhyme, wordplay, etc.
The two have very few skills in common. Lock this thread.
If Big L, Big Pun, Biggie and Pac were still here, they would now be a four-piece boy band, singing awesome love songs about having their love locked down, which is obviously not a good thing to have locked down, because it hurts or something.
I know Jeezy, Wayne, and Jay are on the album. I guess Jay took all of Kanye's rap beats for his album. I'm emo as the next kid on this board and fuck you bitch songs are ace, but a whole album of Optimus Prime singing is going OD with it.

wow are you full of shit. singing isnt about lyricism? its all about pitch and tone? the fuck is billie holiday then? in her later work, arguably where shes best, her tone is in the shitter because shes so fucked up. good singing is about communication. thats an argument for another time.
what i meant to say in the end there was "partly because what andres singing ABOUT sounds good" oops thats how its related to lyrics though.
By your logic if someone can rap they should be able to sing. Rap doesn't really require that you stay on key, though it helps. Singing off key can sound fine, but it takes an appropriate genre. This vocoder stuff is R&B at best, probably pop. Most R&B and pop is on key, and has simple lyrics.
I'm not saying singing isn't about lyricism or whatever it was I posted you took offense to. You can sing without lyrics, you can't do the same with rapping really. Being good at one doesn't generally mean shit in terms of the other, and I can only think of lauryn hill as an example of someone who is exceptional at both. Maybe cee lo. ODB for sure.
Still maintain we should lock the 40th love lockdown thread this week, it's raping my eyeballs.
