whoa.... ease up on my man. he started slow..very slow..but that was more of a product of a lathargic offense and some bad play calling. they werent even trying to get davis the ball.
but at the end of the year..Davis got his thing rolling.
I still expect Davis to become an elite pass catching NFL TE.
FAVRE HASNגT FILED RETIREMENT PAPERS
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 25, 2008, 9:43 a.m.
Despite tearfully announcing his retirement from the Green Bay Packers this month, Brett Favre has not filed his retirement papers with the league.
That doesnגt mean heגs planning to play this year (at least, we donגt think it means heגs planning to play this year), but it does mean that the $11.4 million Favre was scheduled to make is, for now, counting toward the Packersג 2008 salary cap. But the Packers donגt seem concerned about that.
גWe donגt need the cap room,ג General Manager Ted Thompson told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
The Packers have more than $20 million in cap space available, meaning that even if they were to make a surprisingly big deal with one of the few free agents remaining around the league, theyגd still have enough space to sign their draft picks even if Favre doesnגt officially come off their books until the summer.
If Favre does come off the books soon, the Packers could move ahead of Tampa Bay for the league lead in cap space available. Thatגs a sign that the team has managed its cap well, although some fans may wonder if itגs also a sign that the team hasnגt been aggressive enough in signing players for the post-Favre era.

Vikings-Packers to open on Monday night
March 31st, 2008 ג 10:38 AM by Judd Zulgad
The NFL will announce this afternoon that the Vikings will play the Green Bay Packers in the Monday night opener at 6 p.m. Sept. 8 on ESPN, according to an industry source. As has become the custom, it will be the first game of a Monday night doubleheader on the network. The game is expected to be played at Lambeau Field and will be the first for the Packers in the post-Brett Favre era. (Do you think there will be a little talk about Favre that night?)
The Vikings also played on the opening Monday night of the 2006 season when they beat Washington in Brad Childressג first game as head coach.
Last season, the Vikings made only one Monday night appearance. That came Dec. 17 at the Metrodome. Of course, the 2007 schedule was done long before Adrian Peterson proved himself to be one of the NFLגs top running backs and marquee attractions. Overall, the Vikings finished with two prime-time games last season. The Dec. 23 matchup against Washington was moved to Sunday night on NBC under the leagueגs flexible scheduling system.
For those of you who live in the Twin Cities area and donגt get ESPN, you donגt have to worry. Under NFL rules, the network must find a local station to simulcast the coverage. Itגs likely that station will be KSTP (Ch. 5).
The NFL wonגt announce its entire schedule today but rather just key dates associated with the opening week. This will include the opener on Thursday, Sept. 4, along with the Sept. 7 national and Sunday night games.
News about the plans for the opening game on Thursday night broke last week. That matchup will involve the Super Bowl champion New York Giants and Washington Redskins and is expected to start around 6 p.m. to avoid any conflict with the Republican National Convention.
This will be the sixth time the Vikings have opened against the Packers. A look at their previous meetings in season openers:
Sept. 16, 1962: Packers 34, Vikings 7 at Green Bay (Vikings finished 2-11-1)
Sept. 15, 1974: Vikings 32, Packers 17 at Green Bay (Vikings finished 10-4)
Sept. 6, 1992: Vikings 23, Packers 20, overtime, at Green Bay (Vikings finished 11-5 in Dennis Greenגs first season)
Sept. 4, 1994: Packers 16, Vikings 10 at Green Bay (Vikings finished 10-6)
Sept. 7, 2003: Vikings 30, Packers 25 at Green Bay (Vikings finished 9-7)

Yea. Pretty terrible decision.

wait a second, from what I understand, the rule now is, if you touch the facemask on accident and remove it right away, it isn't a penalty at all. if you use it to take someone down it's 15 yards.
I like the new force out rule though. Basically there is no force out, the wr either gets both feet in, or he's out of bounds. I'm surprised that the NFL would do that, as it means less points.
Bengals WR Chris Henry was reportedly charged with assault and criminal damaging on after being involved in a fight in Clifton Heights, OH on Monday.
Will it ever end? He's accused of throwing a bottle through a man's car window and punching him in the face. Henry claims he's a victim of mistaken identity. He was placed on a zero-tolerance policy by the NFL after gaining reinstatement midway through last season. If Henry's excuse doesn't hold up, he'll be at risk of not playing at all in 2008 and possibly being banished for life.

well the packers are looking at signing Kelly Holcomb to add to their banner off season

Kelly Holcomb is starting to emerge as the person most likely to backup Aaron Rodgers from what I was told.
Many teams list Chad Henne as the #2 QB in the draft, ahead of Brohm, who should be available in round 2. The Packers have done their home work on him, but are very quite about him, leading me to think there is more of an interest then is being let on.
DeShawn Jackson may be the 3rd WR taken in the draft. Sweed and Kelly are ahead of him (from what I got) and...
QB Garrard signs extension with Jags after career season
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Quarterback David Garrard has signed a contract extension with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Terms of Monday's deal were not released. But Garrard and his agent, Albert Irby, had been looking for something similar to the six-year, $67.5 million contract Dallas quarterback Tony Romo signed last season.
The 30-year-old Garrard is coming off his best season. He completed 64 percent of his passes for 2,509 yards and 18 touchdowns despite missing three games because of an ankle injury. He threw just three interceptions and finished with the NFL's third-highest passer rating (102.2).
A longtime backup who beat out Byron Leftwich last preseason, Garrard was entering the final year of a four-year deal that paid about $2 million annually.
I would have made him prove this past season wasn't a fluke.

He was a man among boys at UMD though, I just have to believe he gets it together.
What was the last TE to blow up their rookie year? Weird, but they often take time.
I guess Cooley and Shockey both hat good years.
If you niners are sick of him, we'll pay too much for Davis over here in Washington.

Urlacher reportedly skipping Bears' program

CHICAGO -- All-Pro linebacker Brian Urlacher says lingering contract issues mean he won't be with the Bears for Monday's start of a voluntary offseason program, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Urlacher said he will remain at his home in Arizona rather than report to team activities outside of Chicago this week. He hinted that he won't be around for any of the Bears' voluntary offseason workouts or organized team activities, the Tribune reported.
Urlacher is looking to extend his current contract. He is signed through the 2011 season and is scheduled to make $3.95 million next year. It is the same salary he made for the 2007 season.
Several Bears have been given contract extensions this offseason, including quarterback Kyle Orton (one year) and tight end Desmond Clark (multiyear).
The Bears cannot fine Urlacher for skipping the sessions, thanks to the NFL's collective bargaining agreement with its players. It can, however, impact his playing time if head coach Lovie Smith decided it should.
He was and is a dumbass. In 03 he signed a nine-year, $57 million deal. Frontloaded obviously because he is making somewhere near 3-4 million in 08, as he did in 07. The guy who once said he would take less money to keep Lance Briggs is probably second guessing now why Briggs makes more money than him. And if he thinks the Chicago Bears, who are notoriously cheap, are going to shell out some unneccesary doe for an aging, recently injured, post surgery vet...well then he is as dumb as I already knew he was.
