High On Fire Live

Post by Masked Terror #1 »

Going to check them out on Monday.

First time seeing them live, pretty psyched.

Anyone catch them so far on this tour? What's the set list like?

Anyone else going to the NY show?

I dunno man, they are good live, but I really don't have the $25 to spare right now. That, and the first time I saw was at a house show. Nothing really ever touched that.

I wonder if they named themselves after the Electric Light Orchestra song?

One of the sickest displays of metal godliness I have ever borne witness to.

I knew Pike was sick with it, but seeing that shit in person, he is inhuman.

Mono destroy live as well.

Seeing them in detroit at the magic stick on the 18th, small ass venue. Then off to see DOWN the night after at harpos and the misfits show the night after that. Gonna be a wild ass week

I hear the decibel level is insanely fucking high when they play, any truth to this?

magic stick is a nice venue.. really small.. 2 ft. stage.. no barricades..
plus, it's built on top of a bowling alley and they have good beer prices downstairs..

ive seen a lot of great shit at harpos.. i grew up about a mile away and saw a lot of good metal for cheap.. anthrax, sevendust, coal chamber, slipknot, kittie, gwar, hatebreed, sepultura, godsmack, drowning pool, snot, ill nino, stuck mojo, staind, etc.. i dont ever remember paying more than $20 a ticket..

but.. goddamn.. i cant survive a moshpit like i used to.. maybe im getting old, but my legs die just trying to keep my balance in the crowd...

Probably the loudest show I've ever heard, for both Mono and High On Fire. There were parts that were painful- not just to the ears, more to your entire body.

People didn't really mosh, they were too stoned. Just stood there in awe of Matt Pike.

If you (or anyone else who's still going to this tour) would be willing to cop me a shirt and send it to me, let me know. I'll paypal you the dough.

I meant to get one last night, but I was too fucked up by the end of the show and totally forgot.

besides Sunno))) the loudest most disturbing band I've seen live was Monno..with two 'N's"....they are a swiss/german noise band...really :ohsh: live, not so much on record.

also Manowar

Yeah i've been to the magic stick before, i like the place quite a bit, nice little spot and i don't have to walk too far down woodward to get to it.

Harpos is honestly my favorite venue, by far, to go to a show. Last one i caught there was Dimmu Borgir last year with Unearth, Devildriver, and Kataklysm, excellent show all around, pit was crazy at that one. That's the cool thing about Harpos, other than just being an amazing place for shows (Seems like every metal band i've seen brings their A game to Harpos), they never charge more than 25 for a ticket. In fact, this DOWN show is the first one i can remember paying 25 for period, should be worth it though.

Kataklysm was pretty damn good actually, they opened so it was a short set but they definitely didn't disappoint. Unearth was excellent as well. The one that really surprised me especially considering how much hate they get, was devildriver though. They put on a pretty ridiculous show, wasn't expecting it at all, definitely made me a fan.

I've seen Kataklysm several times...kind of one-dimensional.

Unearth bore me, typical metalcore buffoonery.

Devildriver will forever get hate because of the Coal Chanber connection, but they do their thing. It's not that bad.

Haven't liked Dimmu Borgir since Enthroned Darkness Triumphant.

one more thing, masked terror or someone else who's been to one of the shows on this tour, what was the set list like?

Also, anything worth checking out and getting familiar with from Mono, Coliseum, or the panthers?
