The Drum'n'Bass Thread

Post by Masked Terror #1 »

Was way into DnB in the mid-to-late 90s. Most of the shit I had was on wax, so little of it has made the jump to my digital music lifestyle.

Been getting back into it lately. There's some good shit out there today. Props to Sideways for uploading that Noisia mix. Really feeling that. Found some more dope mixes of theirs, I'll upload them later in this thread.

Let's get some uploads going here, preferably albums, comps or mixes/DJ sets. I know it's a singles based genre, but DLing/storing/arranging random singles is a pain in the ass.

Would love to get my hands on more Noisia/Vision Records stuff, Ed Rush/Virus Records, Roni Size/Reprazent, Metalheadz, Renegade Hardware, Black Sun Empire, etc.

Here's the first Metalheadz comp. Classic shit no doubt. Loved it when it first came out. A lot of it sounds too soft to me now, given all the harder stuff that's dropped since. Still, Base II Dark and This Is Los Angeles are dope tracks, as well as a few others.

Had the second installment in this series at one point, but managed to lose it along the way. Feel free to upload it or any of the other volumes if you've got them.

Cool man, glad you liked the Noisia shit...always nice putting other people onto good stuff they haven't heard before.

Here's a mix of the metalheadz type stuff you put above. Has a couple of same tunes actually, but if you dig that shit then you'll like this:

http://shows.pfradio.com/robadub-bluenotemix.mp3

01 : doc scott - unnofficial ghost
02 : ed rush & optical - naked lunch
03 : dillinja - silver blade
04 : trace - sonar
05 : optical - to shape the future (remix)
06 : lemon d - in my life
07 : krust - soul in motion

09 : dillinja - violent killa
10 : ed rush & optical - the medicine
11 : elementz of noise - torch
12 : dom & optical - quadrant 6
13 : peshay - the nocturnal

This next mix is a whole different style, by a french guy called Redeyes and shows the more soulful/deeper side of dnb. Not everyones cup of tea but this is definitely one of the better ones of the genre....

http://www.sendspace.com/file/3brvq1

01 ltj bukem - switch
02 calibre - blue top
03 alix perez + specific - side to side
04 the funktastics - honey

Nice, thanks. Psyched to check that shit out.

Here's a pretty sweet Noisia/Black Sun Empire set from the Lowlands Festival that I found (just right-click/save the link to DL)- http://www.gruwelijk.com/~oxymoron/mixe ... 8-2006.mp3

Do you have any of BSE's full-length albums?

I also have a bunch of sets from a Renegade Hardware night at The End (whatever that is) from 06.

Let me know if you want me to up them.

Used to be big into Jungle in the 90's. Does anyone know any blogs where you can download mixes from that era? Fabio, Mickey Finn, Darren Jay, Randall etc?

Some of those MCs were so ill too - used to love the Ragga Twins.

Kind of like MT, I only ever owned mixes on tapes, which got lost over the years.

This was a dope mix. Definitely in the spirit of the first Metalheadz comp, but without all the queer housey/jazzy parts.

This is a great hard hitting, tech-step DnB album from Dutch trio Black Sun Empire.
Also contains an MP3 rip of the bonus disc from the retail CD which is a cool hour long mix.

I've only messed with the genre a lil' but what I heard i liked way back when...i liked Shy FX's shit especially "Original Nuttah" and "Gangsta Jungle".....Total Science is straight too. I'm looking for a certain track though it's called "Soul Time" by an artist named TC. I've always wondered waht's the difference between "Jungle" and Drum N' Bass? i like em' both....they help me get my knob waxed by pink haired broads geeked off Blue Dolphins. Great Thread by the way...

A monotonous history lesson on the 'Amen, Brother' break by the Winstons. Kind of old but always relevant in these waters, DnB.
