The idea here is that while Walter Hill and John Carpenter were the top dawgs in the 80's for all sorts of variants on low-budget action sci-fi and horror, they were not the only ones doing it and have inspired a bunch of very entertaining also-rans. This is the kind of stuff that now haunts TBS and the SciFi channel at 3am, which is a shame because they really need to be seen in their full uncut glory to be appreciated.
first thing that comes to mind:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093185/
prime example of butchering by network cable, this movie is AWESOMELY violent and grimy. there's enough dialogue samples here to fill 10 ignorant rap albums easily, check this out:
Tom Beck: Why would he come in here and kill a guy for a lousy hundred bucks and a radio?
Lloyd Gallagher: Because he likes it. He sees something he wants, he steals it. If something gets in his way, he kills it. And right now, he's hiding out in your city.
seriously, somewhere right now there is a d-list g-unit wannabe praying for something this badass to kick off his latest mixtape opus
