I figured since my taste lately has been geared towards 70s punk that I completely missed out on... I'd vote for Sex Pistols and then check out the album later that day.

well I listened to the album last night and sweet uncle fucker, I guarantee the only reason Nevermind is winning is because of nostalgia.

the better album is clearly Nevermind the Bollocks
but we all grew up listening to Nirvana, so we hold it dear to us as maybe the first band you listened to that wasn't in your parent's record collection.

which is cool... but its a fucking shame that Sex Pistols will go down in the first round

Ha.

Are you guys seriously saying that, on a technical level, The Sex pistols are better than Nirvana?

I'm saying that Never Mind The Bollocks is a more enjoyable album to listen to than Nevermind.

You could also factor in that it is one of the most influential albums of all time if you chose to, but for me that's not necessary.

If technical skill was a major factor here, Yngvie Malmsteen would win this tournament.

are you honestly tryin to compare technical abilities in a discussion about Nirvana and the Sex Pistols

neither of these bands could play their instruments.
It took about as much thought to write "God Save the Queen" as it takes to write "Smells Like Teen Spirit"

three cords.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that. Kurt Cobain was an underrated guitarist who while wasn't as technically gifted as other guitarists like Kerry King or Yngmie Malsteen(SP) he did his thing. Sex Pistols were good for what they did. Raw Three cord guitar punk rock nothing more.

whats funny is I have the dvd's of both "the making of..." these albums...

lets just say that artistry came first to Nirvana...Sex Pistols just wanted to make a point....without much thought about doing it artistically through their music...now you can take that however you want because they both destroyed their respected niche...but I have more respect for Nirvana's nevermind than any other album created. ever.

the doubles on 'In Bloom' are fucking haunting.
