props to the cavs. they earned it. but i don't see them taking more than a game from the spurs. they are probably the 2nd worst team that has made the nba finals in my lifetime (2002 nets), which says bad things about the state of my pistons. but disappointment can be useful as a catalyst for change.
i hope dumars realizes that if this team is going to continue being a perennial contender in the east, it needs to go in a new direction. and that new direction should include a youth movement in the form of two first rounders, maxiell, amir johnson, and the departure of webber, flip murray, dale davis, and nazr mohammed.
but most of all, that new direction should involve getting flip saunders the fuck out of town. he was never the right coach for this team, and his inability to make correct adjustments has been troubling to say the least, because playoff series are 100% about making correct adjustments. he has never been a successful coach. when he came to detroit he was handed a finished product, and he has done nothing but disappoint while the window creaks closed.
i don't know who would replace him. the pistons fired the perfect candidate two years ago. one name that popped into my head was mike woodson. former pistons assistant coach under larry brown, and he has been unjustly blamed for a lot of the awful basketball that has happened in atlanta recently. whatever happens, i know that if flip saunders is given the opportunity to coach the pistons next year, our streak of five straight appearances in the conference finals will end, because several other teams, the bulls in particular, are going to keep progressing.

gotta give the cavs tons of credit. I didn't think they'd win this series going in.
They have little chance against the Spurs even though they defend fairly well. It will be much more interesting to see how Lebron does in his first Finals though.
Enjoy this while you can Cleveland.

Arenas Says He Will Opt Out Of Deal In '08
10th June, 2007 - 12:29 am
Washington Post -
Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas said last night that he will opt out of his contract after next season and become a free agent.
Arenas, who signed a six-year, $65 million contract in the summer of 2003, said his decision is based on family and business concerns rather than feelings about the direction in which the Wizards are headed as an organization.
"To me, it's just a smarter business decision to play next season, opt out and then be able to sign a long-term deal that is going to keep me in one place," said Arenas, who is recovering from left knee surgery and expects to be at full speed in time for training camp in October. "I'm not looking at anything else. It's just business. If something happens where they don't want me or they're going in a different direction, I can look elsewhere. But my intentions are not to leave."
Arenas also said he does not plan on hiring an agent. He parted ways with agent Dan Fegan last summer.
"I don't need an agent," Arenas said. "I can do all of this research myself.

Not at all worried about Gilbert. He has said he would take a smaller deal to facilitate a more competitive team. Him being in a contract year will make his 07-08 output that much more gangsta. This is just something for people to shout at each other about on television, or write shitty columns about.

very talented group of players, but a bunch of fucking whiners - coach included, and i can't stand ginobli's flops. if i were David Stern i would put a rule in where you get a Technical/fined for flopping. (post-game or otherwise)
