Good choice.
I'll go with The Beatles - Let It Be.

Otis Redding's live cover of the Stones' "Satisfaction" shits all over this list.
Freal-even keith richards admitted that was the way the song should be done.

Instead of Bill Withers - Lean On Me, I'll say Bill Withers - Ain't No Sunshine

Good pick. On another day I would've picked this song too.

And if you're gonna pick a Beatles song you've got to go with "A Day in the Life," "In My Life," or "She Said, She Said." "Let it Be" sounds too much like drunk sing along music.

Bill Evans was such a great pianist. It's a shame he wasted his life away on heroin. I remember reading Miles Davis's autobiography, and I got the vibe that he didn't care for how highly people regarded Evans's influence on jazz ( he was the only white guy on Kind of Blue). Regardless, his piano playing on Blue in Green makes the song, and made me an instant fan.

Gil Scott Heron's "Grandma's Hands" > Bill Withers'

Can someone up "Can We Pretend" for me, please?

Isaac Hayes' version of "By The Time I Get To Phoenix" is probably the best answer here.

Gimme Shelter
When we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality -- judiciously, as you will -- we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.

A Change Gonna Come, i guess that's kinda obvious but that song is his best know for good reason. Otis Redding's version might outdo the original actually..word to Fish.
