... is ridiculously fuckin' gorgeous. Was a big fan of Milk-Eyed Mender, but she really went all out. Finally got around to listening to this damn thing.

really? her lyrics are a real strong point for me... they do get a little too fairy tale from time to time but overall i think her songs are well written.

the singing is a different story. definitely an acquired taste, but i think the new one is a lot more accessible than milk eyed mender.

aggjew, just go to her myspace page for samples. she writes folky songs with lush arrangements... lots of harp, piano, etc. and she has a long list of famous indie friends, working extensively with steve albini and jim o'rourke.

and we have reason to believe she is a forest nymph.

I find her music to be really well produced and written. She's a strong songwriter and arranger and she has the most original singing style since Bjork. It's the ill shit.

Not to mention I've never seen an interview with her until I clicked that YouTube link. Frankly, it strikes me as hilarious. Talking about being earthbound and seahorses. She sounds like a little kid. I love it. I love the whole fairy tale nonsense goin' on with this woman. I love thinking about watching her pick berries barefoot while I sit around in mud.

Milk-Eyed Mender was cool. It happened, I didn't know what to think about it at first, but I came to enjoy it. To shit on Ys is a matter of preference. You don't like her voice or children's stories. Cool, fine. But please stop acting like everything about this woman is wrong.
