Early Man

Post by slimebucato »

I put in Closing In the other day and forgot how much ass these guys kick. If I had to compare them to Mastodon and High on Fire, two of the other best new metal bands out, It would be something like this

Disclaimer: all these bands are awesome, this is for thread purposes only

High On Fire: our songs lyrics are mostly about demons and the occult and related stuff. we would probably fit pretty well as a soundtrack in hell and have really huge droning riffs accompanied by really fast riffs that make you feel like youre in a whirlwind of evil. Our songs are kinda long and have alot of different pieces to them to keep things interesting, they are kind of catchy too.

Mastodon: we make alot of concept songs and can play crazy ass time signatures and exhibit all kinds of artistic voodoo. we have all types of different songs and pretty much defy classification because we jump around in our songs so much. We play as one unified cacophony of technical prowess and anger. Our drummer is an insane maniac.

Early Man: fuck all that shit, we are just gonna rock out. it will be almost physically impossible to not want to bang your head against a wall or flail your arms and legs around.

They sound like Sabbath but angrier and more to the point, also less serious.

I'll upload the album later, pay respects to one of the best bands around

Mastodon and High on Fire are better but I listen to Early Man way more. Closing In is a certified classic in my book.

They have the best t-shirts too. I love that one shirt with the close up of some Cro-Magnon man's jaw and bad teeth.

I also want to take the time to rep Ohio and point out they're from Columbus, Ohio. I saw them in Columbus and it cracked me up to see the drummer's parents in the audience, wearing nice clothes and shit.

I could say I introduced Mastodon to :phila: when Remission was released, but I'm not that kind of guy.

Generally considered a blend of classic Sabbath and early Metallica.

Great live.

It would seem that the second age of Early Man enlightenment is upon us.

thread succeeds.

and about their live show, it was a pretty jarring experience for me. I saw them at a really small venue with 3 inches of blood. Mike Conte seemed like he was off in an alternate dimension of rock that regular people wouldn't be able to comprehend. Totally spaced out.

Heard kids talking before the show - "who are these guys? they probably suck"

after - "oh"

Then they packed up and left.

By the way mt if you didn't know there is a clip of a new earlyman song "cut through the wires" on their website - earlymanarmy.com

It's good, sometimes the vocals are a little over the top for me. But then again, so was James Hetfield's vocals on Kill Em All.

Word - the guy sounds camp as Christmas.

Doesn't Dave Pajo play with these guys sometimes? Weird combo.
