Official 2006-2007 NBA Season Thread
The season is less than one week away. The first game of the year is Chicago @ Miami at 8 PM on Halloween. It'll be on TNT. That game will be followed by Phoenix @ LA Lakers.
Wade is looking like a beast in the game on ESPN right now.

How do you feel about the Raptors?an-also wrote:as bad as it pains me to say, i have a gut feeling the knicks might sneak into the playoffs. I think isiah coaching will keep all the players togeather. There is too much talent there to not win some games.
I think the Knicks will just miss the playoffs. Orlando should make it there this season.

I'm mildly optimistic. I think they can win 37-39 games. If they are in the hunt for the playoffs till the end of the season i'll be happy cause i split season tickets with 3 other guys and i have a lot of late season games. Going to meaningless games is the worst. I think the addition of Ford will be positive. They want to play a phoenix suns style of ball so getting one of the fastest pg's in the league is a plus. This ALLL depends on their start. Their november schedule is fucking hard. West coast trip like 4 games into the season. They never do well. If they tread water in november i like their chances.Psychosis wrote:an-also wrote:

Knicks miss the playoffs by at least 5games
I was totally surprised the Twins won 96games, the Vikings have been moderately surprising so far, and the Wild are dominating, maybe the TWolves can have a surprise year, though McHale hardcore fucked the team, so its not looking likely
this year people will finally realize Nash didn't make his teamates better, they just had career years simply because they had massive increases in playing time

I like your prediction for win totals. I really don't know what to expect from the team. There are so many new players from trades, the draft and even a couple that were playing overseas that it's difficult to accurately assess how the team will perform. I think I'd still rather have Villanobrows than T.J., but Ford does fit the fast tempo style that I believe Colangelo wants to implement there. Any idea how much PT Bargnani is expected to get?an-also wrote:I'm mildly optimistic. I think they can win 37-39 games. Yup. I dont think The Heat played just good enough to win last year, I think they will be better this year. Wade = MVP. I hope Dorrell Wright gets some time. He has looked great at times this preseason.Psychosis wrote:The season is less than one week away. The first game of the year is Chicago @ Miami at 8 PM on Halloween. It'll be on TNT. I think The Rockets will be the semi-suprise out West.

Mike James will be a solid addition, but they definitely don't have anything close to a championship calibur team right now. He's 31 though.Gregg Popabitch wrote:t-wolves got a talented team this year. but they can also spontaneously combust.

i'm liking phoenix in the west IF amare returns to form. if not, 2nd - 3rd round of the playoffs is their limit. utah better make the playoffs this year with that starting front line they have.
miami's still the team to beat in the east. i think detriot will fall off. the knicks will still suck. orlando will come up big, and cleveland might be able to do some damage. chicago could go either way. wallace might be able to get them deeper into the playoffs.

Mitchell told Bargnani to concentrate on playing center cause thats the only position he's going to be playing him so he dosnt have too much stuff to worry about. The kid can score, there is no doubt about that. Hes putting up 11 ppg on 17 minutes a game in the preseason. ITs all about if he can rebound and how he can play D. I think he'll get about 25 mins a game unless hes really killing shit to which he'll be getting more floor time.Psychosis wrote:I like your prediction for win totals. Im hoping Chris Paul can get the most out of this line up for my Hornets. The west it tough this year and i would be surprised if we can get into the playoffs.

Seriously ok. Gordon needs to step up and be a consistent scorer. Hinrich blows turtle balls. They are not a real threat, yet at least.still illiterate wrote:bulls are going to be serious this yearripweblo wrote:Psychosis wrote:I'd just like to add that the Chicago Bulls scare the shit out of me, especially after they win the opener.
y dont u think hinrich is good. and i know he cant do it for a whole season, but nocioni was scoring a lot in the miami series. dengs improvement will be keyblastmaster wrote:Seriously ok. Add me to the list of non-Bull-lievers who see their high-priced, high-aged big men pushing this team away from a newly developing NBA that is trying to get away from the early 90's NY Knicks-style of play.
I also think Orlando is too trumped up with suspect guard play and an overhyped Milicic providing little. Howard is good though.
Amare will never return to form folks. Sad but true. Suns are still in the playoffs however.
I think the wizards are potentially Eastern Conference Finals bound, but they first have to beat the goddamn heat who did nothing but get a lil older this offseason. Hopefully those grandpas will start to break down.
The Knicks will again be terrible.

I did the exact thing, but I knew Bibby was hurt however 3 weeks from when it was announced should be less than 2 weeks in the regular season. Bibby is a scoring and 3PT machine.HipHoppin wrote:Did my fantasy draft last Sunday and got the following players:
Round Pick Player Position
3. (30) M. Bibby PG
4. (55) P. Gasol PF,C
But I didn't do my research beforehand... I thought grabbing Pau Gasol was a steal, until mid-draft I looked at the injury report and saw that he's gonna be out for 3 months. And then last night Bibby got injured and will be out for 3 weeks. Hopefully I can do alright tho!
Gasol I was a fucking moron on, however he is a great player and if you can manage to hold him for 3 month like people did Jermaine O'Neal last year you'll be rewarded.
