Ironman vs. Death Certificate

Post by Philaflava »

Following this round, the true semi-finals will take place where rank 2 and 3 face off. The album receiving the highest number of votes this round will automatically get the bye (finals placement). For example, if Midnight Marauders receives 75 votes where as It Takes A Nation of Millions received just 60 but their margin is bigger, Midnight Marauders will advance to the finals as a bye.

The bye goes to the album with the MOST votes, biggest margin.

Vote!

I listen to Ironman way more often, however, the concept of Death Certificate is as well executed as an album will ever get.

In a perfect world, no one would have to glare and shame people into voting for Death Certificate.

However, Biggie's dead, Young Joc sells records and this isn't the blow out it should be.

Vote for Cube.

Looks like if DC wins, it'll have to face another album before reaching the finals.

Ironman is a great album with a ton of classic songs, but albums aren't just about having classic songs. Listening to Death Certificate I feel like I'm watching an epic film unfold.

Ironman isn't cinematic per se, but it is intensely visual in its own right. It's a beautiful piece of music that is cohesive despite being characterized by abstraction.

Death Certificate is an eloquent and timeless castigation of a hypocritical society destoying its most vulnerable citizens, and by extension itself; Ironman is a baroque psychadelic biography of one such individual who aspires to his own form of bizarre transcendence in this same Amerikkka. Take your pick, peoples, everybody's a winner.

obviously a fan favorite will be going home after this one. to me, they're both pretty close to flawless albums. so it comes down to a matter of style, and i prefer the :wutang: shit on this one. ehhh, you know what, it wasn't really even close for me.

i'm going to listen to death certificate right now...it's been a while.
