Re: The Official NBA Draft/Offseason Thread
Tony Snell is really good. He was the best player on a New Mexico State team that was pretty talented. He's a natural shooter/scorer, with the length and athleticism to be an effective defender. At times tho, it seemed like he would lack focus and commitment. Like he would not make the impact on the game that a guy with his talent should. It will be Thibz's job to get Snell to buy in to the Bulls work ethic and system. If he does that, they'll get one if the best late round picks of this draft.

If Big Drew and Uncle Drew are ever healthy together that is a real nasty one-two, big-small combo. And I mean you add Lebron to that...
Does Chauncey have anything left? Don't remember seeing him much last year.

Ok, but is an old, washed up Chauncey still better than Brandon Knight, Stuckey, etc/other Pistons trash?

No. I feel like that move is a two year head start on making him the next Pistons head coach.VideoKilledThe wrote:Ok, but is an old, washed up Chauncey still better than Brandon Knight, Stuckey, etc/other Pistons trash?

As an offshoot of those discussions, sources said, Howard's camp at one point asked the Lakers whether they were at least considering releasing Bryant through the league's amnesty provision, since Bryant's return date from Achilles tendon surgery remained in question.

First, forget the dollar figure you just read. What really matters is the smart way the Cavaliers structured this deal to provide maximum flexibility for next summer. Bynum's contract includes a 2014-15 team option, so if he's unable to get past his knee injury, the Cavaliers can simply walk away.
i like it for the cavs

Its ridiculous they gave him anything than a year at the league minimum. $5 million/ 2 years is a fucking heist.

Baron Davis subtly mentioned that he had a run-in with aliens in a recent podcast.
The former Knicks guard, who traveled with the team often last season despite being injured, told the WestCoastRydaz.com about the incident.
“I was actually abducted by aliens two weeks ago,” Davis said.
When probed for details, he explained he was driving from Las Vegas to Los Angeles in the early morning recently and this is what happened:
“I see this light and it’s a big a—truck. And I said, oh f---- this is going to be traffic,” Davis said. Driving, driving and the next thing you know there’s a steel thing and these crazy looking people – half human, half ugly-looking mother f-----s.
“They were poking me on the nose, looking at my eyes, they had my hands tied and the next thing you know I was in Montabello dude, burning rubber on the way back to L.A. at 4 o’clock in the morning.”
He was asked a couple of times by the hosts if this was a true story and he didn’t back down. Davis said he couldn’t explain how he traveled so far, so quickly and said he went to the parking lot of an In N Out Burger to collect himself.
All in all he doesn’t have any complaints, though.
”I don’t think it was an abduction cause now I am sharper and s—t. I am retaining information,” Davis said.

Re: The Official NBA Draft/Offseason Thread
Why James Harden and Dwight Howard Will Work
Critics abound express their doubt that Dwight Howard is a willing participant in an offense dominated by the pick-and-roll (or worse, an early shot clock Harden isolation offense). If this claim is true and Kevin McHale starts the offense with Dwight in the traditional back-to-the-basket/double team configuration (by the way is it truly traditional anymore? how many teams have successfully employed this role over the past 15 years?), expect great results. By the sound of this paragraph thus far, you would think Dwight is the primary reason for this assessment.
On the contrary the answer lies in last year's acquired superstar: James Harden. The Beard is one of the most adept players in terms of scoring late in the shot clock.
Imagine this scenario: Dwight receives an entry pass on the right block from Chandler Parsons who then runs his man baseline to give Dwight his space. An immediate double team forms. Meanwhile Harden has drifted from the corner on the weak side towards the top of the key outside of the arc. If the double team is too late or too weak, Howard is scoring and/or going to the free throw line. If it forces the ball from Dwight it is going straight to the hands of Harden who can consistently outwork a defender one-on-one with as much efficiency as the top 99% percent of the NBA (I knew I couldn't avoid a Lebron reference).
If Harden doesn't get double-teamed, the possession will probably result in Harden scoring. If he does and Howard has re-posted, preferably deeper, then Howard is a drop step or spin move away from dunking or being fouled. If Harden doesn't like what he sees because the baseline defender has left his man to emergency-double Dwight in the paint, Parsons/Lin/etc. will have a wide-open baseline three pointer...arguably the best shot attempt in the game.
