I hate how people got all on Nog for getting rocked in the Herring fight, it was a big mistake but he still dominated that fight, this should be a crazy ass fight.
even though it is the year of the upset I still think Nog wins this anyway he wants to...

really?? I have no desire to see that fight.

On paper, as soon as Nog gets a takedown the fight should be over.

I have no desire to see Nog get the takedown, get sidemount and do nothing with it (like with Herring). Eventually get stood back up and get knocked out for being stupid.

With the way this year is going this is 100% possible and honestly i wouldnt be surprised by it in the least. Also dont forget about Kongo's groin shots of fury!

wtf some crazy news coming down the wire

Fedor signs with Russian org M-1 and as a result Couture walks away from the UFC.

craaaazy, props to Randy for only wanting to fight the best, I mean, if he really wanted to he could definitely pursue this since he's not obligated to the UFC, but we'll see.

Major respect to Couture.

However, if he fights Fedor in a ring he is going to get mopped.

Looking forward to see what M-1 can put together with this newfound momentum.

As posted in the HT thread, Liddell/Silva is now official.

Predictions?

Silva.

if this happened before the Jardine fight I would have given this to Liddel, but he looked so bad that I don't think it'll matter that Silva hasn't fought in a thousand years, Silva by ref stoppage late in the fight.

So with Tim Sylvia propping himself up as the #1 contender for the Heavyweight title , who is he gonna fight ? Nog ? Which brings me to my next point. There are certain fighters that I wouldn't miss if they quit today. Sylvia being number 1. Other fighters: Ed Herman , Michael Bisping , Stephan Bonnar and Chris Leben. Joe Riggs and Rashad Evans are borderline. With that said I hope Nog is training hard. I want him to make Sylvia retire.

Sherk's first hearing was in August, he decided to appeal the decision and asked for more time to collect his case. Second hearing was set for October 31st, the outcome of that hearing was,
CSAC are idiots, Sherk is an asshole, LW belt is in limbo
Oct 31st, 2007 by fightlinker

Image

As we just reported, a decision in Sean Sherkג€™s steroid case has been pushed back to November 13th at the earliest. Apparently Sherkג€™s lawyer Howard Jacobs gave an ג€˜information packetג€™ to the CSAC containing all sorts of stupid info including the result of polygraph tests etc. Being total geniuses, the morons at CSAC didnג€™t even read the fucking information before the hearing. So now we have another month long delay so the CSAC can look at the information in this package.

I should be surprised, but Iג€™m not. Going into this thing I knew there were two outcomes: Sherk came out guilty, or the ruling would be delayed. Iג€™m not saying I think Sherk is ג€˜guiltyג€™ of knowingly taking steroids. Just that he would be found guilty. Past that point, a delay seemed just as likely considering the fact Howard Jacobs is known for dragging out steroid cases, something we talked about when he was first announced as Sherkג€™s lawyer.

So where the fuck do we go from here? Well ג€¦ this pretty much destroys any chance of BJ Penn fighting for the lightweight belt on the New Years show. I doubt that Dana White is going to go back on his promise to hold off on stripping the belt until Sherk has his ruling. And I doubt BJ Penn is interested in fighting for some lame ג€˜interimג€™ title. The UFC had a hard enough time convincing BJ that the real lightweight title was worth fighting for.

All in all, the simple result of all this is that the lightweight division is still fucked. That now makes three titles in flux : lightweight because of Sherk, welterweight because of TUF, and heavyweight because of Couture. Someone upstairs at UFC has to make some hard fucking decisions soon or weג€™re gonna end up with more shitty non-title cards over the first half of 2008.

edit: this is from MMAweekly

-Gesias "JZ" Calvancante vs. Shinya Aoki
-Hayato "Mach" Sakurai vs. Hidehiko Hasegawa
-Gilbert Melendez vs. Mitsuhiro Ishida
-Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Luis Azeredo
-Kazuo Misaki vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama

-Fedor Emelianenko vs. TBA
-Joachim Hansen vs. TBA
-Aleksander Emelianenko vs. TBA
-Roman Zentsov vs. TBA
-Mark Hunt vs TBA
-Ricardo Arona vs. TBA

:ohsh: :ohsh: :ohsh: :ohsh: :ohsh:

jeebus save me even if half these fights are just rumor and don't happen this card is nuts. I would buy this for the lightweight matches alone. This is a craaaaazy month for MMA.

Those TBAs are making me anxious to know who Fedor is gonna fight.

I can't wait to see this. I really hope M-1 will keep the PRIDE FC tradition of awesome production and fights alive.

TUF finale had some great fights. Warmachine vs. J-Roc was a battle, and so was Huerta vs. Guida. Guida fights like he is a possessed monkey.

Huerta vs Guida was nuts, I can't believe how relentless Guida is, and did he throw a double-fisted mongolian chop from his guard? kid is wild.

and Forrest and Rampage as coaches for TUF should be the best thing on tv ever, and the fight should be dope to. I think Rampage is at the top of his game and I don't see how forrest can beat him, but I admit I'm probably not giving Forrest the respect he deserves.

It's kinda weak that Jardine got the shaft after he beat Lidell. I know he also lost to Alexander, but beating Lidell in and of itself should be enough to at least have a number one contendership fight with Griffin. Plus he beat Griffin's ass before.

I didn't see the Griffin fight vs. Shogun, but I can't really say much against him after he pulled that off. Plus he debatably beat Tito in that fight where they gave Tito the decision.

I don't think Jardine deserves a title match, even if he beat check. He has no skills and a very ugly ass standup.
