While the writing is good, it's not really groundbreaking. A lot of people have told these stories better in the past.

I don't think anyone is seeing aesop rock currently as far as straight up writing goes (in the sense of crafting original, moving stories with an original voice through rap).

still, it's an excellent album.

Resolved Question
Does Biggie Smalls hate HipHop???

"Shoulda been a cop, Fukc Hiphop"

I've been wondering what he meant by this.
Additional Details
Rap sucks, HipHop is better

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters
Naw, he likes hip hop and rap. He was just referring to if he hadn't started rapping he would've been a cop.
So he's cursing it, not that he doesn't like it, just for the sake of it.

such as? I actually think the narrative perspective on this album is unique. Maybe not entirely, but in terms of major label albums, I actually don't think this story has been told before.

Funny that Andre and Em are the touchpoints of this album, especially because it's true. That's what I like about GKMC. It's like the synthesis of all the modern styles of hip-hop without being showy. I get Andre's flow, Em's thoughtfulness and vulnerability, and also Em's diction (no racist). But it's more than just a rap style. The beats sound more of-the-minute than any rap album I've heard in a while. Dre gets the credit, but it's not really West Coast. I hear Spaceghost Purp and the Weekend. Throw on Midwest style, Houston nods, and LA subject matter and you get the idea that KL doesn't especially consider any style at all.

Whatever, drunk post. Great album.

If anyone is interested, hit me up, but I made a condensed version of GK,MC that I think plays a lot better, without the skits and without excessive hooks and filler songs and verses.

If you already think this is a classic, don't bother, but if you are having trouble getting into Kendrick, this might win you over.
