somewhat of a spoiler:

juggernaut isnt technically a mutant right? in other words, he couldnt be cured by that drug/mutant, right?

and wolverine was healing pretty quickly in that last scene with phoenix

They ignored the Juggernaut not being a mutant thing. It would've requried too much backstory.

I'm not a huge X-Men fan, I know the story from the cartoon and and the few comics I have read. That said, I thought it was really good. Theatre was absolutely packed and it was a good crowd too.

Possible minor spoilers.....

People were yelling out during a lot of the movie, when they announced juggernaut's real name before getting him out of the truck some kid behind me starting screaming "YEEEEEEEEEEEES" over and over.

Then when Jean Grey and Wolverine start to go at it some guy yells out "Wolverine gonna beat that pussy uuuuuuuuuuuuup" whole theatre was like

More importantly, they had a "Snakes on a Plane" teaser trailer. Half the theatre were doing fist pumps in their seats and the other half were completely confused.

^ Yeah the Snakes on a Plane trailer was pretty awesome.

"We guarantee that all these other movies don't have one thing. Snakes on a Plane".

Major Spoiler:

Why didn't Wolverine just stab Jean with the cure at the end instaead of killing her?.

great popcorn flick. obviously the worst of the three, dialogue was mad cheesy (uh i think most of those cheesy lines were the preswident's though, so its whatever), and some characters underdeveloped like whoa (angel and colossus needed a little more depth) but yo NOTHING was fucking with those action sequences. some top shit right there.

speaking of which, can i just say that BEAST WAS FUCKIN. SHIT. UP. Easily the best character.

^Action scenes only go so far my friend.

**SLIGHT SPOILER BUT NOT REALLY

Also about that scene with Magneto and the caravan, I thought that could have ben done so much better. Yeah its cool that he could just toss them aside but damn I would have liked to see him manipulate it a little better, make him seem more bad ass, I dunno its just me.

*SPOILERS OVER

HONESTLY THOUGH THE FIGHT SCENES OR ACTION IN GENERAL IS ONLY SLIGHTLY BETTER THAN X2 SO DONT EXPECT SUCH A VAST IMPROVEMENT EXCEPT ON STORMS PART.

there were a few times times I thought this movie was a bit weak, but for the most part, I LOVED IT. The director didn't change the tone that much, and I understand how people can say it felt "hollow" but it really just was such an expansive movie that they couldn't invest too much into any one thing.

it still was amazing for what it was supposed to be.

MANY PEOPLE WON'T APPRECIATE THE SUBTLE BRILLIANCE OF THIS MOVIE. YOU HAVE TO BE A X-MEN COLLECTOR TO KNOW A LOT OF THE UNDERLYING GREATNESS OF THIS MOVIE. (not to dis the cats in here who collect comics and still didn't like it, but I thought it was solid.)

the dialogue about "controlling power" was amazing to me. I love the infinite meaning that can be applied to the hero talk.

you also have to read the article I'm about to post.

Spoiler alert:

My friend also said "why didn't they throw the kid (the ~amazing~ kid actor from 'Thank You For Smoking', btw) @ Dark Phoenix?" and I think that he probably wouldn't be strong enough to absorb all Phoenix's energy. In the comics, she's fucking planetary. This is a special kid VS. a level 5+ Mutie :ironmike: , I bet it wouldn't have worked.

I wish those rumors were true about Gambit being played by Johnny Depp.

Beast was awesome. His fight scenes were amazing. Many of the fights in this movie were some of the best, visually creative action sequences I've ever seen in my life. My childhood dreams were manifesting in front of my eyes.

~the birth of the Rogue/Wolverine love affair WAS ABSOLUTE FUCKING GENIUS THAT HAD ME GOING SUPER INSANE-O~

it was fucking GREAT for them to "subtly" dis George W. Bush when Mystique was like "I'm the President of the United States, let me out", and the guard is like "you're the President? Then SHUT UP!"

I loved this movie, and I'm going to see it again tomorrow. Then I'm going to buy the bootleg on ASAP

I SAY ALL THAT TO SAY: I WANT TO SEE A FUCKING X-MEN 4

man the movie is ill. fuckers come in with unreleastic expectations and get sour at minor shit. Yeah the dialogue was a bit cheesy, it's based on a comic. The action was amazing and pretty much non-stop.

spoiler***********
They killed off a lot of main characters, prof X, Cyclops, Jean, and took away magnetos power, so I doubt an xmen 4 will be in the works

but the movie was dope. I'd see it again.

my expectations were low going in because of who was directing it.

MOTHERFUCKING BRETT RATNER

just got back from this and I was immensely entertained. They basically just let the people with the coolest powers let loose for about an hour and a half. Jean disintegrating fools was pretty awesome.

But once you come down from that action rush you realize that the writers basically took the X-Men liscense and did whatever the fuck they wanted with it. Lots of crazy shit happens in this movie and there were more than a few :naswtf: moments. Any spinoff movies they got planned better be origin stories cus the universe they have now is pretty fucked up.

Spoilers:

Once again the movie was aight. What fucked it up in places for me was the special effects, like when Beast came in contact with the little boy and his human hand was reveal, I was like thats hot. then he walks away the his hand just Photoshop paints its blue fur back on. Also the flying didn't look real(storm, magneto). The full animation of people like iceman and colossus was very fake. Wolverines healing got out of hand at points.
Cyclops magical death was very unsatisfing. Oh my god and the costume designer fucked up Juggernaut (his helmet looked like styrofoam, and problelly was). i had to get that out haha

but after all that wack shit i give it a 3/5

Peace

I meant in the way he manipulates the metal, like the iron he took out of the guard in X2. i dont question his power just i like it when they slow down the use of his power thats all

was this covered in the comics?

remember how xavier was giving a lecture, turned on the tv, and then commented on something about the comatose man in the hospital? does that have to do with this?

HELLA SPOILERS BELOW: WATCH OUT NOW
Patches O'Houlihan wrote:so how much did u smoke before seeing this lol
just a little pinner, actually. LOL

I saw it for the third time this weekend. I STILL LOVE IT. I saw even MORE layers of meaning and complexity that I didn't catch the first two times.

STAYING TO THE END AFTER THE TRAILERS IS WORTH IT SOOO MUCH... REMEMBER THE SCENE WHEN XAVIER IS TALKING TO THE CHILDREN ABOUT ETHICS? BRILLIANT FORESHADOWING.

(i wrote this before i scrolled down to see rakesh's post... i'm glad i realized this when i saw it in the theatre tonight, it made me sooo happy)

Mindbender wonders: why is there never any blood on Wolverine's claws? Like, EVER? Especially when he finally starts jabbin people deep in the guts in this movie? That's neither here nor there though, at least he's gettin his snikt on (yeah I been a comic geek for years, so what :ironmike: )

yo, Kelsey Grammer KILLED IT as The Beast. He could not have portrayed the character better, on every level. I wish he had just ONE more fight scene, but he repped when it was clobbering time (yeah I know that's FF4, fool). Frasier as the Beast is as perfect casting as getting Patrick Stewart as Professor X, LOL.

next movie, Storm/Halle Berry has to take on a strong leadership role... they STILL be playin her weak... they should do like the comics and make her hella strong Black womanish, except give her a claustrophobia moment where she wilds out and loses control for a minute, revealing her weakness

Cyclops doesn't RELE have to be dead. He could be absorbed in the Dark Phoenix's energy... I say they bring them all back in part 4, with Xavier and something HELLA EVIL from the Psychic / Astral Plane. Apocalypse, maybe?

oh, y'all X-Men haters? checka check it out:
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- "X-Men: The Last Stand" stormed to an estimated $107 million three-day opening, the largest ever for Memorial Day weekend and the fourth-biggest in box office history.

Preliminary estimates were released Sunday for the third installment of the series featuring a cast of mutants with names like Storm (Halle Berry), Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and Mystique (Rebecca Romijn).

The 20th Century Fox film opened in 3,690 theaters and grossed a whopping $28,997 per theater.

"People had such a huge awareness of the movie that it just translated into these huge numbers," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Exhibitor Relations.

The film benefited from a huge base of fans who had seen the first two "X-Men" films, plus great marketing and solid reviews, Dergarabedian said.

"This is what the summer is all about," he said, adding the box office has rebounded well since last year's slump. "With 'Da Vinci Code' doing better than anticipated ... we could not be in a better position."

Estimates for "The Da Vinci Code" over the start of the holiday weekend were not immediately available. That film, starring Tom Hanks and directed by Ron Howard, had a solid $77 million opener last weekend.

On the all-time list, "X-Men: The Last Stand" ranks behind only "Spider-Man," "Star Wars: Episode III" and "Shrek 2" for opening weekend gross. None of the other films opened on a holiday weekend, which usually gives movies a boost.

For Memorial Day openers, "X-Men" crushed the previous three-day high of $72 million, set by "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" in 1997.

Final box-office figures were expected Monday.
boo-ya!

I wasn't the only one who saw this shit twice in one weekend! Damn the critics, most of the media haters never even were comic fans anyways!

it's a ----- thing, you wouldn't understand :megaman:

I'd love for this to happen, but find myself wondering if there's enough money in the industry to do an Apocalypse-related story line right.

galactus ate planets, not apocolypse.

and is mindbender late on everything? first the racial overtones and now with the staying after the credits.
