I guarentee Deadwood gets better ratings. Anti-human hedonism, unapologetic racism, and gunfights...without having to empathize with moolies or wops?! Shiiiit, HBO's sealed up the "fly over" portion of the U.S. with that show.
Just seems like I've met way more people that brought up Lucky Louie. Everyone I've talked to about Deadwood says pretty much the same thing: I watched a few episodes but I couldn't get into it.

You live in San Diego and aren't in the age bracket that Deadwood caters to.

If you're not just interested in it for the peripheral issues that I listed above, you have to be pretty well read and - er, smart - to like Deadwood, for the simple fact that you have to have a pretty impressive personal lexicon to get what they're saying. Shit, I have to watch it with subtitles and I'm 6 months away from an graduate degree in English. You also probably have a pretty big interest in history, politics, etc. And history, literature, and a deep interest in politics (an interest that goes beyond "Bush sux dude / let's nuke the Muslims bro'") aren't high on the the average teenager / 20-somethings list.

No, I agree. It's definitely an overwrought show, but I still enjoy it. It doesn't surprise me that most folks my age don't dig it, it just surprises me that it has a big enough fanbase to still be cost-effective for HBO, being that it looks to be quite expensive to make; whereas Lucky Louie looks like it costs about ten bucks to make per season.

Suprised Arlene doesn't like this shit, it's about poor white trash surviving in big daddy america.

And HBO ain't cancelling The Wire for two reasons.

They must keep their small black viewing audience and white guilt. That and the show is great, despite having just seen a few episodes.

Fever Pitch was forced and unfunny. Never should Fallon be a leading man in a movie. He shouldn't even be allowed to do movies unless they are cameos like in Almost Famous and even that wasn't suspect.

This show is great if you ALLOWED yourself to watch it for more than an episode. There are some shows that grow on you and if you don't allow them the opportunity to prove you wrong, then you're missing out.

By the end the season the show eclipsed most cable and network shows and if you watched it you'd probably understand and feel a bit disappointed too.

I didn't watch the show, but why would anyone be GLAD that it was cancelled?

Don't make no sense to me.

The Wire gets as many viewers as Lucky Louie. If HBO were any other network it would have been cancelled, but they can't because it brings them some prestige;it's pretty hard to justify cancelling the best crime drama ever just because it doesn't rake in Sopranos-esque ratings.

You've got people out there, on this site even, who won't watch it cause of class and race issues, but will run to the water cooler every week to rant about Sopranos, even though it's descended into a quasi gay soap opera.

Fuck people.
Isn't 'The Wire' cancelled too?

I heard Wire got renewed for a 5th season. The 4th season looks classic; this show hasn't lost anything since the first season.

I'm still pissed.
How the fuck WEEDS gets a second season and Lucky Louie doesn't is beyond me.
Just glad I bought HBO just for this and watching the first couple seasons of Wire.

Well, there'll always be DVD.

I could never get into the show. The low-brow(ness) of the show seemed too forced. It was one of those shows that I understood why people liked it, but I can understand why it got cancelled.

Based on the praise of this show, the fourth season is going to do Entourage numbers, which is around 2.5 million an episode, so your argument doesn't hold any ground my friend.

LOL - No it's not. The premiere only got 1.5...which are Lucky Louie numbers. Getting white people to watch a show with an all black cast is about as hard as getting brothers to watch Dharma and Greg.

I don't think that takes into account the whole On Demand fiasco.
