Brett Ratner didn't write the script. I think everyone's beef is with someone else.

slow down, cowboy

i didn't read Wizard magazine to see that rare article where Stan Lee admits that he took the idea from civil rights leaders. as a 12 year old kid, i knew that mutants could parallel Blacks/gay/Latin/etc. people... but I didn't know the Marvel Comics writers had the audacity to actually make MLK fight Malcolm X, in their character representations.

that, to me, is as insane as the Vatican making a movie about God slap boxing with Jesus.

and both would be cool to see, ha ha... but the idea is still MAD disrespectful, ESPECIALLY SINCE MARVEL USED SUCH ONE-DIMENSIONAL PORTRAYALS OF MLK AND MALCOLM X.

dude, I ain't slow, I promise you that. We may disagree on some things, but when sparring, keep it above the belt, aiight?

p.s. My X-Men bootleg looks wonderful on my computer right now. Life is great.

I actually heard Ratner did make alot of changes to the storyline though. Not sure exactly how much, but I do know from what I heard that this was made a pretty strong departure from the foundatio nthe last two had set up.

Also, I don't think the money this movie is making is really a suprise to anyone, is it?

And Mindbender...I don't think anyone is calling you "slow" per say, but I personally thought that's always been one of the more obvious parallels they drew with the civil rights leaders...reading a rare article in Wizard or whatever really doesn't have much to do with it.

Also...I don't think the actually portrayals of Magneto and Prof X(i.e. X and MLK) within the Marvel universe were that one dimensional...and even up until this point in the movie series itself, the relationships between Magneto and Prof X has been a fairly complex one as well.

I totally misread Bender's "vatican slap boxing" post, so I deleted this part of my response.

Nevermind to this post...not my previous one.

I wonder how many people actually knew about this bonus scene, cause I just heard about it the day I saw it, I doubt most people did

i thought the bonus scene would be xavier moving the chess piece playing magneto with his mind

did xavier actually die in the phoenix arc?

i thought this was a really good movie, doesnt do justice to dark phoenix though

yeah, the dialogue was unbearable for me.

"My God"
"Dear Lord"
"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned"

they used almost every cliche imaginable

add that to the fact there wasn't really a problem for the x-men to solve and this movie was terrible. although i did like that they killed scott - he's been nothing but a whiny bitch from the get-go...

I'm nervous. My daughter saw it and liked it, which is a bad sign for me cause we have completely opposite taste in movies.

Wish me luck this evening.

It was bad but not horrendous bad. Beast was my favorite part.

I don't know the Xmen comics well but I know enough to know they were being butchered right in front of my eyes.

That's what makes it so hard for me with the Marvel movies. I grew up on them. I remember when PSI Wars were required reading in the lunchroom.

No joke. I've never seen a snuff film work on so many levels.

Yeah, but the movie going public will see literally anything as long as it's shiny or pretty.

And plus, I doubt all of those sold tickets resulted in happy customers.

lol, you of all people should not go this route.

the top 5 best selling rap albums of the 90's:
Hammer don't hurt em
license to ill
big willie style
MMLP
Country Grammar

does the fact that each of these albums sold 8 million plus albums mean they are dope albums (other then maybe MMLP and License?)? no, not neccessarily the case.

the matrix sequels both made over 150 million dollars each. doesn't make them dope.

making alot of money doesn't neccessarily mean dope.

I thought it kinda sucked. Beast's fighting was the only dope thing about it, and even that only lasted for like 30 seconds.

word up.

i still haven't seen this, but plan to soon...but after reading all the reviews and shit, I am pretty sure i am gonna be very sad and dissapointed.

I liked 1 and 2, and have enjoyed almost all of Marvel's comic adaptations so far...so this is going to suck.

Saw this yesterday.

The movie was extremely mediocre. While the action was well executed, and the special effects were great (what did you expect, though?) the script and the dialogue in particular was horrible. It yanked me out of the X-Men universe. I left the theatre unsatisfied.

1 and 2 are great.

they can't end the series like that. hopefully, a 4th one comes out with a better team.

agreed. there's so much they can do with the characters and story that it'd be a shame to leave it on this sort of a note.

i did read somewhere that they would decide on whether or not to continue the series on how much money this one made...so that's good to know i guess.

I thought it was ok. I left feeling like nothing sunstantial happened, while 3 main characters dies and two lost their powers. The movie could have easily been 2.5 hours and told a much better, more detailed story.

I would like to see Wolverine and Magneto origin movies, and then wait a few years to tell a true to the comic X-Men origin. There are so mnay good soties to tell, I would settle for feature length cartoons.

Who's sweaty underused dick do I have to suck to get a Secret Wars movie?

I liked it. I dont think its anywhere a disaster, I've seen a lot worse. I must admit I was shocked about all the major characters getting killed off. I'm sure Cyclops could come back as we never see him die.

I agree with blastmaster lets get the origin movies started.

PS I wanted to kill Vinnie Jones everytime he opened his mouth!
