Effectively Using Dhalsim

Post by bringinoutbangerz »

*inspired by Fighter's Generation thread

Harnessing the abilities of the oft-misunderstood street fighter was a secret joy of mine. His super slow jump always left you open to be pummelled, but only you could master the teleportation, it became an excerise in diminishing life-bars for your opponents.

While he didnt get the teleportation ability until SF Turbo/Hyper Fighting, his style has always been an acquired taste.(homo?)

Beating someone with Dhalsim was always more satisfying, mostly due to people having no idea how to work him.

Anyone ever use D-sim? Find him offensive?
Are there any other characters that are just as satisfying to master?

I never tried mastering Dhalsim, but I'd use him sometimes against people that sucked and whittle down their life by playing keep-away which was always fun.

Dr. B from Tekken is another one of those characters that if you could master all the ground tactics it was a real accomplishment, you should be able to put that shit on your resume.

As an overweight person, I find E. Honda more offensive.

definitely bitchmade, i feed off of others' frustration.

didn't play KI much, but when I did I was the wolf guy. This was the 64 one and if I remember right half the characters could rack up crazy combos by jacking on the buttons, good times.

This thread title cracked me up.

Dhalsim is pretty cheap. His sweep manouvre was pretty ill though. But yeah, I always went Ken whenever I played.

Yep... hated Dhalsim. If someone was good with him... you couldn't win... unless you started chucking fireballs.

Cheapest character in a game however... Mega Man in Marvel V. Capcom 2. You didn't even have to do a special move to shoot a fireball. Just press a button. I hated that mo fo.

But that's a game that plays very differently from SF2. Never had a problem shutting Mega Man down. If you play MVC2 by volleying projectile attacks all round long, you're doing something wrong.

never got all that good with him, but I can beat anyone who sucks with just about any character.

the problem was...his moves were great--some of the best in the game. But the control was difficult and I always had trouble doing that teleport.

I would swear by Dhalsim all the time cuz it would always piss my buddies off but I had a friend who was unstoppable with Guile in SFII. Guile was broken as fuck...bugged out suplex. My friend could combo into the suplex, it was disguisting.

I got to the point with sfII that I could use anybody effectively. dhalsim was on of the easier ones to master imo. zangief was the challenge.

Hah, I love those characters in fighting games that have some quality that turns most people away.

Although the only one I was ever halfway decent with was Voldo in Soul Caliber. His range is shit, but he was capable of some awesome shit if you freaked him right (no homo)

Dhalsim has many downfalls and can be shut down. Just like the brown man to take pride in being cheap.

Why does the character with one of the wackest names in a fighting game have to be black?
