Kirby: Canvas Curse

Post by slimebucato »

Got this the other day, it is probably the best game I have picked up for the DS so far. It feels like the first full fledged game that I have played with the DS that utilizes the touch screen.

Kirby is basically a ball, and you control him using brush strokes that you "paint" with the stylus. He attaches himself to the stroke and rides on it in whichever direction he is moving. You can also block enemy attacks and obstacles, and it is also used to keep Kirby underwater in certain levels. The level design is varied and well done, and there alot of unlockables that can be purchased with 250 medals that have to be found/earned. There are a bunch of fun minigames as well, plus 4 characters that give the game a very different feel supposedly (haven't unlocked any of them yet). You can take the ability of the enemies just like the other Kirby games.

Hopefully this is the start of a slew of good DS titles to come.

I was actually going to make a thread about this tonight.

This game is awesome you guys! Great 2D graphics, colorful as fuck. The music is typical happy Kirby shit, but that's fine with me. The top screen is essentially worthless, but the touch screen mechanics make this a game that you couldn't really experience on any other system.

It's a Kirby game, so it's easy as fuck, and probably short too (I'm purposefully going slowly), but so far it's definately been worth the money. Yes, the DS is starved for good games, so it's entirely possible this will get overrated, but I'm enjoying it very much. Due to the touch screen 'painting' it's like no other game I've played, and I appreciate that.

*sigh*

I was torn between this and Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, and decided on PoP, much to my chagrin.
