Re: NHL 2014/15
Boston is having a fire!... sale.
Dougie Hamilton? Gone- picks only.
Milan Lucic? Gone- retained salary, a prospect, a pick, and... a goalie? Why?
Looking forward to draft night in hopes that some sucker will take one or two of our defensive contracts. Knowing my team, though, we'll offload Couturier for no good reason.

I don't know what Boston was thinking but I'm glad they did. Landing Dougie Hamilton for picks was huge. I couldn't be happier right now.

Dude. They traded for Rinaldo.Kiran187 wrote:I don't know what Boston was thinking but I'm glad they did. Landing Dougie Hamilton for picks was huge. I couldn't be happier right now.
The Bruins are the gift that keeps on giving this offseason.
Re: NHL 2014/15
Saad to Columbus. This offseason has been awesome so far.
Re: NHL 2014/15
That one shocked me. I thought Chicago would get rid of some of their older players and keep Saad for sure.
Also, WTF is up with Mike Richards? I want to know what he got busted with at the border.

Re: NHL 2014/15
Word is that Saad wanted 6 years, $6.5m. That's pretty steep for a long time. Also rumors that Saad isn't happy with his agent since getting traded, though...Kiran187 wrote:That one shocked me. I thought Chicago would get rid of some of their older players and keep Saad for sure.

Richards was apparently carrying either Percocet or straight-up Oxycontin at the border. It was the second time he got stopped at the border with them, which means it's his own damn fault. I loved Richards as a Flyer, but if you've got a prescription (which I'd bet he does), carry the pills in the proper bottle and do it right.
Phil the Thrill to Pittsburgh, by the way. Haven't heard detail on the return, but early word is that Toronto is retaining some salary in the deal.
EDIT: Kapanen/Harrington/pick to TOR. Not sure how much salary was retained or what round the pick was. If there was, in fact, salary retention, that makes the deal worlds better for a Penguins team with a lot of money already dedicated to a few players. EDIT 2: First round pick. Good deal for both sides.

Re: NHL 2014/15
whats up boys? why arent we talking puck?

Re: NHL 2014/15
Flames are playing like shit. I'm really hoping this is short-term or it is going to be a disappointing season. WTF is up with all the stronger teams like Anaheim, LA and Pittsburgh? They are not looking too good.
Re: NHL 2014/15
Connor McDavid is :ohshit: worthy
Re: NHL 2014/15
There hasn't been a post in here in months. :Owens: just got from the Sharks/coyotes game. Hella fun, too bad they don't use na na na hey song anymore after goals since it turned out dude was a pedo

Hey, by the way who's Curt?
Re: NHL 2014/15
Any big predictions leading up to the trade deadline on Monday?
For me I'm hoping Jiri Hudler and maybe Kris Russell get moved. We ain't making the playoffs this year so might as well get some picks or something.

Re: NHL 2014/15
hope the canucks realize the season is gone and get what they can for some ufa vets.
Re: NHL 2014/15
I really hope the Flyers are able to move Mark Streit at the deadline. His value seems to be dropping by the day, and he's been surpassed by Gostisbehere. Streit had a good run, but just hasn't looked the same since coming off the IR. I guess part of that is getting relegated to the 2nd unit power play, but he's looking lackluster 5v5 as well.
We don't really have many rentals. We're said to be working on a new contract with Raffl, leaving Sam Gagner, Ryan White, and Evegeny Medvedev as our pending UFAs. Maybe someone would give Gagner a go, but I don't see much interest in either other player. We're also at our max on retained salary transactions, which might hinder our ability to move one of these guys for an asset.
@Kiran: thoughts on the Granlund/Shinkaruk swap? Initial reaction seems like a huge win for the Flames, but some people familiar with Shinkaruk's play seem concerned that his game either won't translate or won't evolve enough at the NHL level. (Of course, there are plenty of folks saying the exact opposite.)

Re: NHL 2014/15
I'm fine with it. I liked Markus Granlund but he wasn't performing as expected. Shinkaruk is a local kid and was actually projected to be drafted by the Flames but they took Emile Poirer instead. Now we got both of them so we'll see how it pans out. We have a lot of centers anyway so Granlund was slipping on the depth chart and Shinkaruk still has two years left on a two-way deal so he's able to be shifted up between the Flames and the farm if needed.

Re: NHL 2014/15
Sharks up 2-1 in the conference finals. Didn't see that coming.
Re: NHL 2014/15
One of my buddies in San Fran is a huge Sharks fan, I'm on the bandwagon right now. Plus, I'm a fan of any "triumph over historical playoff struggles" I can get.
Re: NHL 2014/15
I love Brent burns. I shot some TV spots with him a couple of years ago. Really good guy. I hope you guys win the cup.
Re: NHL 2014/15
Is this life....? I have to go to a finals game somehow.
Re: NHL 2014/15
Congrats to all the Bay Area
heads. It's been a long time coming for San Jose. Hopefully they can close it out.
