Episode kicked ass.
Fucking
at staying for one place for the entire hour (even more important for the show than getting a big battle, IMO).
Really hoping they don't feel the need to do a postcard sized return to the other 99 plots in the finale just for the sake of it. If we got 30 mins at King's Landing and 30 mins at Winterfell (save Jon Snow, Qarth, Aria, Rob Stark fucking Ethnic Love Hewitt, and Bulldyke-Goes-West for next season). Not even necessarily Winterfell, just only two or three major locales in total and in detail would be >>>>>

We both know this is what it will be. Not that i mind as long as things actually happen, as opposed to "slowly progress".
Blockhead wrote:
Sad but true. Maybe we could get some detailed and limited storytelling and then one of those now-corny end of season Wire style montages to remind us that Arya and Jamie are both wandering around the woods or something.
he just got a cut on his cheek, no...? And who was the dude that chopped him? It looked at first like he was happy to see him, wasn't that the head of the kings guard...? Also, was that Stannis that made it up the ladder and was fighting dudes up there? I didn't really quite catch how it ended with Stannis...EMCEE DARTH MALEK wrote:things emcee malek predicted:

.... tyrion getting chopped isn't on there.
if he died i think there would have been no doubtsHalfman getting chopped was kinda ill. Obviously, he'll live

according to wiki:
As Tyrion fights, he is unexpectedly attacked by Ser Mandon. Tyrion is wounded, but before he can be killed, his squire, Podrick Payne (Daniel Portman), slays Ser Mandon. As Tyrion slips into unconsciousness, he witnesses the Baratheons being suddenly struck by a surprise assault from a cavalry force comprised of Lannister horsemen and lead by a man wearing the armor of the late Lord Renly Baratheon.

were they kingsguard soldiers or Stannis' own men pulling him back to retreat tho? I didn't get a good look at their armor.Blockhead wrote:^last they showed him, he was being held by a few men, watching his men get killed. that was Renly's bff, he takes his helmet off at the end when they secure the throne room.tehgiftofgab wrote:lead by a man wearing the armor of the late Lord Renly Baratheon.

Ahh so this whole shit was orchestrated by Little Finger?Req wrote:were they kingsguard soldiers or Stannis' own men pulling him back to retreat tho? He's the one who met with Renly, had the talks with Renly's wife about wanting to be queen, met with daddy Lanister....wonder what his play is in all of this? Marrying Renly's ex and getting his own territory maybe?
Great fucking episode, Marshall was definitely flexing his chops jumping perfectly between brutally violent/intense action sequences and subtle character expositions.
Loved the Hound telling Joffrey to fuck off and bouncing, hopefully he really is Sansa's ally, she's taking a big risk trusting him. I'm sure the Lannisters are going to hunt them down brutally though.
Pretty sad that we didn't get to see Joffrey's head on a stick and by the looks of things it will be a long time before this can happen. Hope Tyrion isn't dead. Would be shocking if this show killed off its two best characters.
. Saddingly I think you might be right unless Sansa actually chooses not to go with him. From next week's preview it appears that she is back to being the Lannisters' captive. I wonder if Grandpa Lannister will call out the boy king for his bitchassness and finally give Tyrion some props?Dat_Triflin_Ass_Dude wrote:I bet the Hound's gonna be executed in the next episode.

So who's gonna die in the final ep? I'm fully expecting at least one of the major semi-major characters to die, and I'd be shocked if everyone escapes death in the finale.
Possible contenders:
Tyrion
Hound
Stannis
Jorah
Shae
Robb
Jaime
Theon
Joff
My money's on the Hound, Jorah, or Theon. I'd say Hound has the best chance. I think his arc is complete. It'd be nice to see him go up North and fight ice zombies, but I highly doubt that shit's gonna happen. What ya'll think, who's getting murked?

Been saying Theon isn't going to make it out of this season alive.
Jorah should be fine, since without him Dany is completely fucked and they've spent way too much time on her storyline for her not to become a major player down the road.
Things aren't looking good for Tyrion's whore, Cercei definitely figured out who she was in the last episode.

Great episode, very glad they stayed with the battle the whole way.
Did anyone else think that everyone was quick to give up on that battle? Oh no, they're at the gates, let's commit suicide. Was pretty weird I thought considering nobody had ever breached the walls before.
No way Tyrion is dead. Tis but a scratch.
Where the fuck is Joffrey?
I think we're looking at a lovely Stannis execution because he was still on the battlements when his troops fled. No way he doesn't get captured. He's really got nothing left unless his witchy woman somehow saves him.
Of course we're looking at a season wrap-up in the final episode. Doesn't bother me much, they need to revisit some of the stories.

i think joffrey is gonna stick around simply because the narrative needs one obvious clearcut villain like that. everybody else is a complex moral gray area, he's the only one who's just an abject turd with absolutely no redeeming caveats
on the similar note, i kinda hope davos and his son are both dead. he was one of my fave new characters, but it would be very fitting to the larger theme of the story to have them both die the same way after having the argument about their respective motivations. but he will probably live and i'm not too mad about that either

Yeah, mostly just wishful thinking on my part. It just seems like a lot of those stories will have to end on cliffhangers and will be incomplete, which kinda sucks though. There's just not enough time to have something actually happen w/ Snow that's not a cliffhanger, something actually happen with Arya who is now out in the wilderness, something actually happen with Jamie who is now out in the wilderness, Something actually happen with Rob who is now out in the wilderness, something happen with Sansa (if she's now out in the wilderness), and something that's not a cliffhanger happen in Qarth while still closing down the repercussions of the King's Landing battle and attending to Winterfell.jamrage wrote: Of course we're looking at a season wrap-up in the final episode. If they can bring a satisfying end-of-season conclusion or "wow" moment to all of these things in 70 minutes this shit will literally be the greatest show of all time. I'd rather they just do a couple of them well and not spend too much time on the other stuff.
I think there is a few places with each of those stories that they can end them this season to be interesting while setting up season 3.PopeyeJones wrote:Yeah, mostly just wishful thinking on my part.
