I've heard a few tracks and all have been bangers so far. Not sure the

verdict on Ap but I've always thought he was the best of the Demigodz crew. Thoughts on Ap or this album?

I've always been a fan. Him and Celph have always been guilty pleasures with a ton of great songs. Songs like "Check to Check" I'm getting a little tired of from any artist, though. That's the only thing I've heard from the album so far.

i liked his demigodz stuff and guest spots like styles of beyond and what not...but i thought eastern philosophy was shit and havent really heard him rap after 2006ish.

kinda stopped listening before he finally dropped an album so i wasnt too into the first one..this one is pretty good tho..starts off strong..kinda dies down in the middle and picks back up at the end.

he still sounds hungry, in comparison to alot of the guys from his era.

Pretty much agree with this and I don't even really listen to the old stuff anymore, felt like I grew out of Apathy so haven't checked this. I revisit a handful of songs off that "It's the Bootleg Mothafuckas" double album, but all of those songs feature Rise.

The Premo joint and the songs with Action Bronson and Ill Bill are a 'lil intriguing, but that's about it.

I accidentally posted a Vandersliced-"produced" song on my blog the other day and have been hating myself ever since. Apathy was cool, like the other guy said, in 2002. His voice/style/content all scream "WIGGER!!!!"

this new album is a banger

if your in the mood for this its good fun modern boombap

the premier track is fire

the track with xzibit is fire

alot of this album is quality

havent really listened to apathy since eastern philosophy , i really liked that album when it dropped and i even went through a phase where i didnt like anything demigodz related, i still dont really but , celph titled and apathy do some good shit

I don't have that much of a gripe with this particular track because you know he is being completely honest and if you followed Ap you kinda know he has been down a rocky road most of his career.

What I do have some issues with is the choice of samples. It's a little too cute for me. For instance, if I told you the following titles you'd immediately know the sample used for the hook without even listening to it. Examples are Stop What Ya Doin, I Dedicate This To You, Peace Connecticut and Smoke Weed Everyday.

To me that's a bit lazy and unoriginal for the producers because a hook should be built around the track, not the other way around. On most of the tracks you'll find these obvious selections from Cube's "Villian" to Andre's "Check To Check."

I understand what you're saying here, but there's a right and a wrong way to be honest. For example, on the excellent new Timbo King album, Timbo touches on his struggles in the industry on a song or two. The key phrase there is "touches on", it never sounds whiny and it just comes in the flow of a song. He gives you insight into his past and allows it to enhance his album rather than detract from it.

The Apathy song isn't horrible I guess, but in the second part of your post you touch on something that's a theme for Apathy. I wouldn't be surprised if he chose a lot of those vocal samples himself (I haven't listened to the album) because it seems like all he ever makes is topical songs. Topical songs that blow...because they are boiled down to a single phrase or thought ("That Old Boom Bap", "Immortal", "9-5", "Chemical", "DSLs" etc.). Apathy puts a lot into his rhyme schemes and flow, but he's about as deep as a kiddie pool. I think he was so focused for years on making a hit record that he lost himself in the process, he used to at least sound like he liked making music.

Pretty spot on.

And as far as the broke underground rapper tracks go, it's just a tired concept. It's like a subconscious contract every 'keep-it-real' MC has-- at least 1-2 songs per album about being a broke rapper. Supastition had 4-5 songs per album dedicated to this. At least flip the subject in a creative way, 'cause the flows are dope.

I actually want to email TROY contributors about this subject and see if they can help me with something.

White rappers.. all the same. And it's a lose-lose, if they stay Wiggery they get criticized for being stagnant wiggers. If they make any change at all in music or image ( like grow hair longer than 1/32", have visible eyes, or wear pants less than 8 sizes too big), then they are just trendy emo faggots or whatever.

Some pretty bad songs on this.

"Check to Check" being one of the main offenders. If rapping is so fucking unprofitable, then quit. Don't rap about how much being rapper is keeping you broke. He even admits to being horrible with his money. Is it really the rap game that's keeping you broke or your own habits? But more importantly, why should I, as a potential fan, give a FLYING FUCK about your spending habits? Just rap, fuck face. Rap about something OTHER THAN rap.

"It's Just Hip Hop" is awful as well. Are you really trying to tell people how to be fans? Aren't you at least a little glad that they care enough to ask you shit you don't wanna answer?

There are a couple of good songs on here. The Primo joint still bangs. Overall, though, I don't see myself giving this any more run.
